My daughter said she wanted a "toy camera" for Christmas. I've seen digital cameras for kids before (I think) but I can't remember a brand or any details. If like to get her one that actually works but is durable. She is four after all. :)

We got this for my son when his baby brother was born. He was 4 in sept. Its great- very easy to use and has funny editing you can do. Also has cute games on it and can be a video camera. Highly recommend!!

I bought my toddler a 'real' digital pocket camera (that 6 years later is still going strong)... and it was one of my better decisions ever to get a real one instead of a cheap (or expensive) toy that breaks at the drop of a hat, has cumbersome software, and takes crappy pictures.
Nikon CoolPix. Got it for $50 on CyberMonday. About the same cost as 'toy' cameras... but it actually, you know, WORKS. And is easy to use. And takes decent pictures.
We bought real cameras for our girls on their 4th birthday. Best decision ever. The toy ones are just awful - the picture quality is junky, the pictures are blury because what 4 year old can hold a camera perfectly steady? We bought clearance Canon cameras for about $45 and they have held up totally fine. My girls love them, and can scroll through all the pictures they've taken. Go for a REAL camera!
Target had the Vtech ones for sale today for $34.99
Fisher price and Playskool both make them. Main thing is teach them, and lead by example, to us the wrist strap. My photography teacher in college required it of us. Said it was the stupidest way to destroy a camera. Now it drives me crazy to see someone not using one. Anyone could bump up against you, and bam it's on the ground.
I ordered the vtech digital camera for my 4 year old. It had the best reviews on Amazon.
I know Big Lots advertised the Fisher Price one today.
We are considering the Lego one. Seems to have gotten better reviews.
I just got one at Bed Bath Beyond for $25 with a coupon. It looks pretty good.Very child friendly.It comes in pink/purple or blue/green.I can't remember what brand . I wrapped it already=( Merry Christmas!
My son will be 3 in February and we got him the Fisher Price camera. It was about $40. He loves using it. He has thrown it countless times and it still works. I think it was worth it until he is old enough to not throw everything around and be more careful with things like that.
