I'm looking to replace my very outdated digital camera, but there are so many choices out there now. Anyone have any suggestions for a reasonbly priced camera? I don't reallly want to spend more than $200. Thank you! :)
I have a Kodak Easyshare C813 and love it. It even has a video option. I bought the camera, a 4 gig memory card (3,000+ pics) and a case for about $200. That was several years ago. I bought mine at Walmart. I would imagine that it is even cheaper now. I also realized that the huge memory card was way too much and bought several smaller cards when it broke. Good luck and enjoy!
If you CAN wait until December. Amazon has a digital sale that drops the price on cameras/etc as much as 50-75% off the price they will be for the rest of the year.
We got a $200-$250 Flip (video camera, not real camera... haha my friend the film maker would thwack me upside the head for that remark) for under $60 including tax last year for xmas. The camera *I* want was 2,000 less ... but still too rich for my blood). The sale is PHENOMENAL, and worth waiting for to get so much more for your money.
I did tons of research before I bought my Canon Powershot SD 960 IS. I am thrilled with my camera! It is awesome...it takes great photos, has tons of cool features like color select where you can shoot a picture in black and white and select a portion of it to be in color. It takes great videos and it has a battery that charges right in a wall charger so no replacing batteries! It was about $195 and worth every penny. Good luck!
Whatever you end getting, be sure that you compare the zoom on them. The important one is the optical zoom, not the digital zoom. If you just get a high digital zoom, then your photos could come out grainy. So, I'd limit the cameras you are looking at to those with a higher optical zoom than the bottom one of 3.0.
I love love LOVE my Canon Power Shot SD750 Digital Elph 7.1 Megapixels. I got this one maybe 3 years ago? I used my mom's which was the same brand but even older model so I already knew how to use this one. Get the SD1300 versus the A3100. The difference is the battery and it make a huge difference. Definitely spend the extra 20 bucks to get the lithium-ion battery versus the AA battery or you will be replacing them constantly. It comes with the lithium-ion battery, a charger for the lithium-ion, and a USB cable to put the pictures on the computer. I still have yet to replace my lithium-ion battery, by the way. It's fabulous and it comes with a very large easy to read/follow manual. I got mine at Best Buy, and I just checked there, the latest version is $159:

I almost forgot to mention the video capabilities! You can take videos, too. I take my kids recitals and send them on a flash drive to the grandparents! Awesome.
Yes, Canon powershots are great! (Or Nikon Coolpix). You want something with somewhat of a zoom capablity on them. Not sure what the other poster mean when they said the higher the zoom, the grainier your pics....it's not the zoom that determines the quality of the pics, but rather, the megapixels. For a point & shoot camera, anything under 10 megapixels is fine. I own a dslr Nikon D300, which cost around $2000, and the lens that goes on it $800...before i owned this, i had a low cost Sony Cybershot point & shoot digital camera that took great pics. Honestly, for what you are looking for, $200 can buy you one fine piece of equipment that'll take good quality pictures. :)

Go to the store and try out ever one you can to see what you like. I did that and have decided on the Nikon s8000. Than, after you make your choice, look around on line for the best price.
I'm on my second Canon Power Shot and love it! It does everything I need and the newest models are so lightweight and pocket-sized! It runs right at $200 and is worth it!
