Disney Cruise - San Antonio,TX

Hello~

Have any of you ever taken your kiddos on a Disney Cruise? We are considering one for next year (kids will be 7 and 6) and wanted to hear others thoughts. A trip to Disney itself can't be done next year due to time restrictions with my husbands job, but there is a 5 day cruise we could go on.

Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

A cruise will be so much fun for everyone.

If you leave out of Houston or Galveston you'd save a lot on travel costs. If you go out of Florida then you do have to get there from home. I always thought if I went on a cruise out of the gulf or Florida I'd take a train to Dallas then over to Ft. Worth and on to the station where the train comes from the west coast going to Florida. Easy travel and lots of new sights.

I think Disney would be a lot of fun. The shows, movies, dinner situations, and more. You'd never want to leave the ship.

We had an amazing time on our Disney Cruise and are hoping to schedule another one soon. My kids were 5 and almost 2 at the time - it's been two years and the older one is begging to go back. You should absolutely do it. Everyone will love it.

Great cruises! A zillion kids. Very very expensive. Disney knows how to do it, but at a cost. So it depends really on your budget.

I have heard they're great, but when I looked into them for our family, my jaw dropped at the prices. They definitely cater to the upper class. Before you get your heart set on a Disney cruise, make sure you can afford one. You may find a much better deal on a regular cruise line that does a kids theme (for instance, Norwegian has Nickelodeon theme cruise ships).

I haven't personally been on a Disney cruise, but one of my coworkers is on a Disney cruise as we speak. This is the second time with her two kids and she says she loves it. Disney has their own private island in the carribean plus they have activities for children of different age groups. When she went the first time, her older kid was 9-10 and her younger kid was a toddler. Now, her older kid is 14 and her younger kid is 7-8. She said her kids LOVE it and said she'll never go back to regular cruises. So I think your kids will have an awesome time if they go. You and your husband, too, since they have adults only activities.

Just got back from our second Disney cruise! We loved it. First class Disney - there is plenty to do for the whole family. If you can pick a week outside of the "high seasons" you can get better rates. You can request a free DVD that will give you lots of insights into the cruise. Have fun!

We are planning to take one in fall 2015. I've heard so many great things. Our boys will be 10, 7, and 5 when we go.

Here's my opinion. If you plan to go to Dinsey next year, save your money now and spend it then when you are at the parks. For the $1,000 you'll save, you can upgrade to a better hotel, meal plans, etc. Don't get me wrong, the Disney cruise will be fantastic - but I'd rather spend my money at the park.

I'd suggest that you take a Royal Caribbean cruise. They cater to kids big time. You can get a great deal on a 5 day cruise. We LOVE RCI. The camp is fabulous.

Have fun whatever you choose!!

Everyone I know who has gone just loved it. Your kids are old enough to do the activities and have plenty of free time, which will make it more relaxing for the adults. The good thing about a cruise is that the kids can't get off the boat so you can let them go to all the supervised activities with no worries. That doesn't happen at the Disney parks. We loved the parks, don't get me wrong, but you have to be on the kids all the time and you have to all agree on what rides to go on and what restaurants to eat at. The cruise takes that all away!
