Today I slipped with my language in front of my daughter. Has it ever happened to you? Wanted to know when.

What can I do next?

ALL THE TIME

I have always had a sailors mouth. I pretty much could use the F bomb in every sentence as a teen.

I have gotten SO much better since having kids.

I still find my self slapping my forehead for it while Driving, Cleaning, cooking or doing anything that involved multiple things at once.

My oldest has been exercising this vocabulary this summer...and I have had to try even harder to bite my tongue.

I figure if this is the only thing I get majorly wrong as a parent...I am not doing to bad. There is SO much more I could screw up on:)

If I do use a bad word loudly in front of them I will apologize. I will let them know that it was naughty of me to use in front of them.

Yes, unfortunately, it has a few times.
It just popped out unconsciously and I think it was when I was driving a couple of times.
A few times it was in the house when I had my hands full, in a rush, runnin out the door and dropped everything. Dang it.
I try to keep that "under wraps" at all times but every once in awhile I mutter it under my breath. And voila.....there's my child. whoops.

How old is your child?
I've never been excessively careful about my kids, now ages 12 and 16. These words are not shocking to them and they don't use them.

driving is my high slip time. I try not to, but it slips. I think there's a balance though. My son is aware of these words and not to use them. I know that my slips do not model the correct behavior, but oops! it happens. I do have to say I have a friend who will curse at her children... "Stop f***ing doing that" etc. That's something I hate. Nobody's perfect that's for sure! They will hear the words somewhere :-)

Much more than I care to admit. Usually, it is under my breadth or in a conversation with my husband (usually not at him, but in passing, like that woman was a complet &*$(#*!"). Sometimes, I ignore it, especially if they don't seem to notice. Sometimes, I apologize. I never swear at my kids, ever. Never even say, "Shut up!"
