Ladies, I need your help. I am trying to locate a lady whose maiden name is/was Cathy Thorpe, she is now married but I don't know the last name. I don't know if it is Cathy with a C or Kathy with a K or even if it is short for Cathleen or something else. What I do know is she is from the general West Chester area and is supposed to work for the University of Penn Hospital. I found a lady that I thought was her and just confirmed that it is not.

The reason that I am trying to find her is that she is the estranged sister of my now-deceased ex-stepmother's husband (did I just loose you?...the lady that was my step-mom and mother to my siblings had remarried, the lady I am looking for is that man's sister). Her recent husband lost his parents many years ago and has been estranged from his sister for years. He has no other family, although me and my siblings have been there for him, he is having health issues and know he was recently wanting to reconnect. He is not able to tell us the missing information that may help us find her for him.

If you know the former Ms. Thorpe, please ask her if you can message me her contact info. Thank you.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Great ideas ladies, my obstacles are:
*I did try Facebook and found one lady that seemed like a possible match. I have spoken to her and it is not her. The hard part is I don't really know her first name (spelling included) or current last name. I don't know her age or the town she's in for sure.
**I wouldn't know her if I did find her in year book. The info I provided in the post is ALL the info we know. He is in ICU and unconscience and can't provide us with any info. Additionally, we are under the impression that there is NO other family (not even a cousin).
***We don't have the money to hire a PI....hoping someone knows Cathy and knows she has a brother and says "contact this girl please".

Is it possible it was Children's Hospital of Philly (CHOP) and not U of Penn? I have a friend who worked at CHOP as a nurse until a few years ago. I'll send her a message and see if she recognizes the name.

ETA - as you know, no joy on the request to my friend. Would it be possible to advertise in the classified section of a Philly paper? Or put an ad on Craigslist?

There are many old high school yearbooks now on line and you might be able to search for her there to get the correct spelling of her name. Then you could check on Facebook, Linked In or other social network site. You could check Ancestry.com - and see if there is any information on her (provided she was born before 1940). You might get the name of other relatives as part of census records and have success tracking her down from other clues - places she lived, names of other family members, etc. You can access Ancestry.com free at your local library. What does she do for the hospital? If she is medical professional then you may be able to access state licensing boards to get info. You could also hire a private detective to search for her.

If you know her age and where she was born look up her birth record. This way you will get the correct spelling of her name. You may also be able to find her marriage or divorce records and get a married name for her.

If she was a nurse at Penn Hospital, talk to the Union Stewart this person may either be able to tell you where she is now employed or get a message to her.

Look for professional organizations, relating to health care, contact them and ask if she is a member. Ask if they will relay a message.
