My hubby remembers meals.. LIke what he ate at a restaurant and how it tasted... Where we ate on vacation and if it was good or bad. I have no brain space to remember food.. I am too busy remembering library books and gym shoes on gym day. Is this a male female thing.. The way to a mans heart is through his stomach??

What can I do next?

I do remember some select meals. Usually they are tied with a special occasion or a special family event. We remember what we ate, where we sat, and what the occasion was. We usually have the waiter take a family photo when dessert is served (before it is eaten) which probably also helps to remind us of the meal. When we dine out locally, i usually have my favorites to order and I know what NOT to order as well,

Very rarely. I'm terrible with details though so I also don't remember which movies I've seen or books I've read until you tell me the plot (and even then I don't remember sometimes ha ha).

I remember specific meals.
I remember specific meals at my granny's house as a kid, I remember having french toast at grandmother's , I remember what we had when we went to Disney world .
So yes, I remember. I LOVE food. Eating isn't just for survival , it's a pleasure to me. I don't remember those other things.

Well, yes, I DO remember food, meals, etc. But then I'm a major foodie and I'm fascinated by every culinary aspect.

My guy travels for his job and eats out 4-5 days a week. And he CAN tell you where he ate and what 2 months ago during a specific week. But then who's eating what and where and at what time is a topic of discussion in our daily long distance relationship.

:)

I definitely remember foods, but then again, food is my thing. I have never understood those (pretty much exclusively) women who "forget to eat" sometimes. Cooking is my passion so it stands to reason that I would remember meals as well. Don't get me wrong, I don't remember every single specific thing I've ever eaten, but for the most part yes, I totally understand what your husband means. My whole family is like this as well. When we're planning big family vacations we take into account places we've eaten before & try to revisit them if they were spectacular. I remember clearly the first time my husband & I cooked a rib roast & how every bite just melted in your mouth & we moaned in delight, lol!

I remember some meals...those that were particularly good or bad. I remember what I had at most of the weddings I've been to, I remember special meals that my friends and family have served, and great meals from restaurants. I don't think it's a male or female thing, but I am also a foodie and like to try new recipes and cook good things at home so I pay attention to what I'm eating when I'm not at home.

This is one of those answers that for me I understand in my head, now let me try to verbalize/ write it out so others can understand...;)
So taste is one of your senses (i know you know that). The 5 senses are how their brain remembers things. Creates part of what triggers our memory.
Some examples...
I remember one day I was hanging out with some friends and someone lit a ciggarette and it reminded me of my grandmother.
I work for a contractor and some of the materials are made here at our facility and the smell of fresh cut lumber reminds me of my father working in our garage as a kid.
Good meals, some people are foodies and it gives a sense of happiness with good food and atmosphere.
I don't know if I am even making much sense here but, you may not be as sensitive to those senses as your hubby. I myself love to eat. If I have a good meal, I remember it. It will bring back good memories and remind me I need to go back. Maybe that's why he remembers those things?

I absolutely remember meals. Nearly every one, ever. Every gumbo, turkey, pancakes, mahimahi, mac'n'cheese, ossobucco, pizza, pate, bowl of freakin cereal.

I'm adhd, though, so I remember nearly EVERYTHING sensory.

Supertasting (and ADHD) runs in my family. Food is DEFINITELY one of the things we talk about. Every meal from a vacation 5 years ago can be brought up in the smallest detail (as can many other things).

My husband, otoh, can't remember what he's eating WHILE he's eating it. He has almost no sense of taste, and DEFINITELY no pallet.

To borrow from the movie Ratatouille; I'm Remy and he's Emile.

I'm a foodie so yes, I remember meals. I'm a huge food snob. I don't eat at chain resturaunts if I can help it and never eat there when we are on vacation. If we know we are traveling or going on vacation we base our itinerary on famous places to eat or places known for their particular category of dishes.

We stay at cheap hotels but eat at the finest resturaunts. But that is our thing. Probably different for other families.

We only go out to eat 1 or 2 times a year... so for me its pretty easy to remember. If the meal was over the top good or only worthy of a second bite just to make sure the first one was actually that horrible... yes those stick out over others.

Funny. My husband doesn't really remember "everything" (he'll tell me "remind me not to get that curry chicken again----that was not a real curry"), but he does remember the events of sitting down and eating together. He remembers and savors what we were doing and if we were having fun (particularly a mental game we may have been playing, or some good jokes), though he does love food.....I've found that he really appreciates it when I make a fantastic meal, but he's very happy with an average meal too, so less discerning. I on the other hand will not remember jokes or games, but will remember every detail about what we ate, the context of WHY we were celebrating (while hubby remembers more THAT we were celebrating), if that makes sense. He has 2 things that are sentimental and special to him (his mother's trifle, my etouffe). Everything else is just extra. I on the other hand have very very sentimental feelings and memories that are all tied up in food. I hear my grandma's belly laugh and feel warm all over when I think of HER fried chicken, and gravy. I feel sneaky if I bake her chocolate pie (because I used to sneak some). I think of Grandpa, foghorn leghorn (he reminded me of Grandpa), and childhood backyard fun when I make his special sauce for bbq chicken. I'm a grown adult but still sit on the backporch to eat melon or peaches because we were always banished to eat (and play) outside so we didn't drip juice everywhere. I taught my boys how to play several childhood games outside just because we were eating a peach and I felt the need to share the rest of the experience with them. I can tell you what birthday dinner I made for Jeremy 8 years and 11 months ago, and what we served when we won money at the casino and went FINALLY got to eat (after years of wanting to) at Court of 2 Sisters in New Orleans nearly 9 years ago. I could go on and on.......but I just got hungry for some "guests coming to visit" (aka pineapple upside down cake). :P

I read this wrong, and thought, yes, I do remember meals. I remember the funny Christmas dinner when my sister was pregnant and somehow got ginger beer up her nose, and then dashed off yelling,'it's in my brain!'. I remember many wonderful meals with my family at my parents' home, with such great conversations and lots of laughter. I remember my father sitting at the head of the table, and my brother trying to be rock n roll. My husband cracking jokes and my mother fussing around with napkins Those meals are one of my life joys. I don't know what we ate (except for the homemade ginger beer).

Oh wait, I do remember a specific meal. It was the worst pizza I ever had at a big hotel. That one I'll always remember!
