I normally don't but have been lately becuase it seems like people expect it. Aren't you already paying them to do their job why should you give them more money? Unless they were truly exceptional.
Do you tip your animal groomer? I had a mobile unit come and they charged $50 each cat, I have 2 and I didnt even THINK about tipping. I just seen an ad for them and it mentioned that the fee did not inlcude tipping....OOPS...should I of tipped and how much? it took her about 1 1/2 hrs.
Well I guess you can smack my hands then on this one...ill make it up to her when she comes back in a couple weeks for grooming ;-)

The general rule is 15% for services like groomers, hair stylists, waiters/waitresses. If they come to your home, they have to charge more because they are spending their time driving to you and that is an added service to you. Or conversely, you spend the time, wear, tear and gas in your vehicle and drive your pet to the groomer. And, and this is a biggie: Some animals end up sitting in the groomers for a few hours ! So these mobile services do only your pet ! Thus they have to do less pets and still stay in business. I'm sure you could call them and they could take your credit card or you could mail them a check. But yes, it is all a service to you. If you can't afford $50--plus tip, you should find a cheaper place and drive your pet in.
Edited:...tip less than 15% percentage for quality of service and tip more than if service was exceptional and your budget allows.
I'm supposed to tip the groomer? Ut oh....... I guess I'll give a Christmas bonus to make up for my faux paux (paw)
I would have done the same as you. OOPS! I never know when it's appropriate to tip or not unless it's obvious (like a restaurant) or I see a sign. =)
I wouldn't - that is a lot - you just paid them $100 - how long did it take them?
I would have given $5 or $10 for each cat.
I always tipped 10% to the groomer.
Really?? Now we have to tip a pet groomer, too? I don't get it, $100 is a lot of money. That is a pretty good rate/hour. I understand someone has spent their time and gas driving to your house, BUT they have no overhead; no rented space, no furniture, no electric bill.
Yes, it's a service. I tip!
If it's a service, tip. Always! I wasn't taught that as a child because my parents weren't in a service industry but marrying a restaurant guy opened my eyes...My children OVER tip, sometimes 50%...aaargh!
Well....they ARE stylists! LOL 15-20%
