B.B.
I ate pineapple every day while pregnant with my son. He loves it now.
But... with my daughter I craved bread and she hates it. :)
I just gave my son orange for the first time last week (I guess I was worried he wouldn't like citrus because it's kind of sour). He LOVES them! He had bananas and strawberries with it (his two favorites) and he picked out all the little orange pieces. I got him some little clementine oranges and he eats one every day for a snack, can't get enough! I didn't think anything of it and was just commenting on how much he loves citrus. My husband said, well, it's no wonder, you ate oranges like there was no tomorrow when you were pregnant! I hadn't thought of it, but it's true. The first half of my pregnancy I was eating navel oranges like crazy. And lemon popsicles, grapefruit juice - couldn't get enough citrus. It may just be a coincidence, but it's still fun to think there's a correlation here! Does your child/children like or hate what you craved?
I ate pineapple every day while pregnant with my son. He loves it now.
But... with my daughter I craved bread and she hates it. :)
I craved chinese food...any kind and the spicier the better with my first daughter. She loves chinese food!
I drank so much milk when I was pregnant with my daughter that I swear I should have invested in buying the cow to keep out back =)
My daughter was breastfed for the first year and then we switched her to whole milk until she was about 20 months and now, ever since we took the bottle away she refuses to drink milk unless its in chocolate form - LOL
With my oldest, it was anything fatty, spicy and not good for me. He hates spicy food, but still loves his burgers and fries. I worked at Subway while pregnant with my son and I loved pickles and would eat them on anything before I got pregnant. My husband knew that I was pregnant 100% when I told him I opened the pickle bucket and got nauseous from it. My son to this day wants nothing to do with pickles, the smell the look or anything that might possibly have pickles in it.
With my daughter I drank lots of water and ate alot of salads and fruit and veggies. I am a big pop drinker and didnt touch one bottle or can of pop while pregnant. She also loves water and is happy with water. She hates lettuce and any and all vegetables. The only green thing she will eat is kiwi. As for pop she will drink it but the face she makes with the carbonation is hilarious!
My mom swears that this is true! She craved tuna with me, salsa with my sister, and raisins with my brother and all of us love the craved food.
As for me and my son, I craved milk, but my son is allergic! I guess it's not the case for everyone!
With my oldest, I ate pancakes every day! He loves them now, and that is his "good boy" treat for potty training! He asks for them whenever he is a good potty trainer and when he's just in the pancake mood :-)
I think this is a fun question that my one co-worker and I talk about often. I could have drank french/catalina dressing when I was pregnant. I literally put it on everything...dipped fries and grilled cheese sandwiches in it. It was the only dressing I could stand on a salad. My son LOVES french/catalina dressing. I craved M&Ms and he isn't a huge chocolate eater but he does chose M&Ms if they are around. I also have always drank a lot of milk. My son is not a big milk drinker and like BabyDoos Mama said he prefers to drink it chocolate.
I craved fruit for all three of mine and so far, I have two that LOVE any and every fruit I give them. The other one liked fruit initially but has since gotten really picky about seeds and peelings. I'm usually eh about fruit, but when I was pregnant, i could eat a carton of strawberries at one time.
I am not sure, I have not yet given my son jalepenos, but he does love pickles and those were my other craving. All I wanted were burgers with jalepenos and pickles ... he does however prefer nuggets over burgers!
When I was pregnant with my fourth, I loved hot foods. I had a Korean friends and she loved cooking her country's foods for me which is very spicy and she taught me her way of cooking. I made spicy foods almost every night for months. But my child hated these kinds of foods, she couldn't take the slightest bit of herbs or spices, everything had to dull and plain. When she was just beginning to eat she hated food, she acted like it was the biggest insult of her life to try to give her food of any kind until she got a bit older and then she couldn't get enough of fresh fruits especially oranges and watermelon which is also what I at loads of.
YES!
I craved anything with tomato sauce while pregnant with my son and his favorite foods are italian - spaghetti, pizza, lasagna etc.
With my daughter I craved sweets and unfortunatly, she has a HUGE sweet tooth.
They have actually done studies---and yes, babies are more likely to eat what you ate when pregnant. If there was a particular food you stayed away from then it's likely the baby won't like that food when they try it. I craved mangos with my oldest, and they are his favorite fruit. With my youngest it was sunflower seeds, and he eats sun butter and jelly sandwiches all the time.
J. :-)
I ate a lot of my DH's mashed potatoes. DD won't touch a potato that is not in a form like a tater tot or french fry.
My mom ate a lot of Taco Bell with me and I like spicy food. She ate a lot of fresh foods with my sister and my sister hates spicy food and is a picky eater.
she loves everything i ate while i was pregnant...
While pregnant with number three I could not eat broccoli casserole or bananas. For 9 months I would try then throw them up. I love both.
We have since found out she is allergic to rice and bananas.
Broccoli casserole is all rice, cheese and broccoli.
Nothing on the food front (then am I really answering the question?), but I am so tickled that the commercial jingle that I used to sing and be super-silly with during pregnancy is my baby's favorite commercial! He hears it right away, from the first notes that play under the speaking, and he sits up and claps. He's walking now, so he scrambles to the TV and giggles and claps. That is just the funniest thing to me!
With my son I ate frosting my friend made at her bakery by the tub! And yet my isn't a big sweet eater, he would prefer something salty. This pregnancy I'm craving tacos, so we'll see if my little Harlee Quinn likes tacos
With my oldest it was strawberries and he loves them. I ate a lot of fruit with him and for the most part he loves just about any fruit I have in the house. I do have to admit I had one thing I hated while pregnant with him..for 9 freakin months I couldn't eat sweets like candy, cake and so on.Drove me nuts cause I love candy. Odd thing is he loves candy, cakes and sweets. I do tease him that he is making up for the months he wouldn't let me eat it.
With my second again I hated the whole 9 months cause I couldn't eat oranges or drink stuff with orange juice in it. I loved oranges and wanted them but didn't dare. He will eat oranges like they are going out of style.
I don't know why but I craved frozen ho-hos. The twist is he doesn't like them.
I think my kids like more of what I ate when I was breastfeeding them than when I was pregnant. I think it must be because the breastmilk was a little bit flavored by those foods? Totally just my thoughts here, no medical evidence or anything.
Anyone else find this to be true?
When I was first pregnant and queasy, I begged my husband to buy me eel and avocado sushi rolls. (Reputable restaurant, cooked fish) They were the perfect food. Kiddo now loves eel and we usually end up getting him some unagi nigiri when we are out.
Good question. I ate beets almost every day of my pregnancy. I had never eaten a beet before I became pregnant. Couldn't get enough of them. My daughter is 12 now and absolutely won't eat them. The funny thing is that she eats every other food on the planet - salmon, squid, veggies, weird stuff I won't even eat - but she just can't stand beets. She tells me she had enough of them while she was "in my tummy".
Good question and yes for me too. With my daughter I craved chocolate had to have it every day and that is her absolute favorite thing to have. I also craved Doritoes with her and those are her favorite too. With my son I ate a lot of pizza and he loves pizza. Also with my son I loved spices and hated macaroni. He too loves all spices and will NOT eat Macaroni. LOL
When my mother carried me she craved tomato soup and to this day that is the only soup I will eat.
For my first I craved watermelon, my second sweet potato or any veggies. Both of them love this foods.
