I just went off my Birth Control a little over a week ago. My husband and I decided we want to start trying for another baby. This morning I started bleeding (I just had my period the 6-10 of this month & it was normal). So I don't know if I'm bleeding because this is my first week off of the pill or if there is another reason???

What can I do next?

When I'm off the pill I have really irregular periods. Like this month I also like you had a normal one, it was over, and a couple days later, it came back for a couple more days. Annoying, especially since you never know when it's coming. But that is what it is for me. Maybe you also just are irregular without the pill.

try having a baby on Feb 4th early in the morning such as at 12am to 3 am.. you most likely would have a wonderful chance at getting pregnant.

good luck to you and your hubby

this estamtion normally always works for anyone i tell.. there was probably 49 success and 6 non success.

J.,

I stopped taking my birth control last month. I finished the "sugar" pills and didn't start a new pack. My period didn't come until it was suppose to - 4 weeks later.

I guess from the other answers you got, everyone is different. I would only be concerned if it lasts longer than your normal period. Give your body a month or two to re-adjust to the new schedule....

It's normal. For a few months after stopping BC, I had really erratic bleeding.

As you know, when BC pills work properly the hormones mimic pregnancy, thus you do not ovulate and can not become pregnant. So, your body has spent the last however many months being "tricked" into thinking you were pregnant, and now your body is like, "Hey, where did all those hormones go??".

Also, the "periods" we experience while on the pill are not true periods; they are breakthrough bleeding due to the hormone fluctuations during the one week each month where we do not take the pill (or take the placebos). From the time span you describe, it sounds like this is your first "real" period since stopping BC. It could also just be more breakthrough bleeding, but only your ovaries know for sure!

In any event, remember that a "real" period is heavier and longer than the "fake" ones you have while on the pill, so don't be alarmed. Also, remember your old friend "menstrual cramps"? She may come a callin' soon. I've found that taking Evening Primrose Oil capsules all month long both regulated my cycles and reduced cramps.

Good luck on the baby-making! ;-)

From what I have experienced and what my DR has told me, this is normal. You may want to talk to a DR or nurse to be double sure, though. I always want a professional's opinion :) Good luck with trying. I have a 16 month old and am starting to try for #2!

If I am reading this correctly you started a new pill pack for about a week and then stopped the pill right? So, whenever you stop taking the pill you will have some withdrawal bleeding. In fact, that is what the fourth week of pills in a pack effectively does. This is normal and expected, although I would think this period will not be as heavy as your last. If you do happen to get pregnant in the next month, you will want to count yesterday (the 21st) as the date of LMP to figure your due date. Best wishes!

I never had any problems with bleeding after stopping the pill, so I would double check with a doctor if it is normal or not. However, if you stopped the pill after the pack was done like you should, it could be "implantation bleeding" if you and your husband have been trying this past week. I've heard of this happening, although I think it is usually a light "period" for a day or two. Just a thought.

From my experience, this is normal. Your body is adjusting to being natural.

When I went off b.c. last time, I had all kinds of weird symptoms! Ranging from sparadic periods to "pregancy like" symptoms of bloating, acne & breast tenderness. Your body is just adjusting to the hormone changes. It could take a couple of weeks.
Good luck!

If you stop mid way through a pack then you'll start bleeding. The best time to stop taking the pill is when you have your period, dont start the next months worth. So basically your body just thought it was time for another period. Totally normal, if it lasts more then your normal period call the dr just to check. Good luck in the coming months!
