If you're looking to donate, you can try Freecycle:

Or, there's always Craigslist.
We've recently been cleaning out our basement and have been struggling to find out what to do with old ski equipment, such as boots, skis, etc. Goodwill refused to take it and I really don't want it to end up in a landfill. Any ideas of how to dispose of such items in a way that will lead to either reuse or recycle?

Definately FREECYCLE! or even Carigslist. I love my FREECYCLE board. I have gotten a lot of really nice things and have given away a bunch of things, too!
There's always craigslist and ebay!
Play it Again? Or, http://www.twincitiesfreemarket.org/
Play it again Sports will take old ski equipment.
I would call a local ski shop. I think they would have the best advice for uses or who to give to.
Try Savers or Value Thrift Store (Sunray in St Paul) or something similar...
Play it again sports. Are they cross country or downhill I have been looking for cross country ones for my kids and my husband and myself. if you want contact me at ____@____.com
We donated ours to Savers on Lake St in Midtown but to save you a trip, they only accept them October through March.
Look online for your local Freecycle group. It's a group of folks that want to get rid of things for free and keep good usable products out of the landfills.
Typically, it's a Yahoo Group where you can post what you are giving away and people will respond directly to you. You can also post things that you are looking for - FOR FREE.
Everyone should FREECYCLE!
Check it out!!!!
