Dr. Recommendations - Ear/Nose Throat

My daughter is having troubles again and I think it is her adenoids. We went to (2) doctors the first time around but I was not impressed with either. They were both random picks from the list of drs. my insurance covered. I didn't have a better way of picking.

I am hoping some of you ladies have a recommendation for ENT doc? Any location is fine.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So I have an appt with Dr McKenna, but not until the 29th. Dr. McKenna was/is on vacation.

I tried to make an appt with Dr. Mancuso but because I happened to have seen someone at his location before, they want me to jump through hoops. First, the original dr (who I randomly picked from my ins. co list of approved doctors) has to agree to release her as his patient. Then Mancuso has to accept her as a patient. Brother! So the doc doesn't just release her, he wants me to come for a followup. I tell them why spend the money, I want to switch, no hard feelings, but I have these referrals from all of you (thanks) So I get a call today from the dr who wants me to call him and let him know what is happeing with my daughter. COME ON! By the time I get this BS sorted out and actually get an appt, my July 29 appt with Dr. McKenna will be come and gone. Wow, Mancuso may be a great dr but the office procedures are rediculous.

Ok, so hoping all goes well with McKenna. I call back Mr I need to release her, wait, see me one last time, wait, ok, at least call me. I find that so annoying

Why is it so GD hard to get proper care for my child!

Rant/Vent over/

Thank you so much for your help girls. I do still think Mancuso would be good even though his office is awful (unfriendly receptionist too... and I am nice to them)

We used Dr MCKenna in the South Phoenix Ahwatukee area. He did my sons tube and we are really happy with him. He was also rated one of the top ENT's in the Phoenix area by the magazine Phoenix. I nanny and the little girl that I watched had her adnoids taken out and she used Dr. Mancuso like the other lady stated and they also really liked him. Both Dr's can run quite behind sometimes. Good luck with your search.

Hi Amy

Dr. Cohen is an awsome ENT doc.. He is in Scottsdale off of Osborne Rd. His phone # is ###-###-####. He has been practicing for over 30-40 yrs. He has come up with different procedures and he has taught other doctors how to do some non-invasive surgeries. He is just too awsome. Very gentle and caring older gentleman... He did my sinus surgery and everything was a breeze... His staff are the best... Definitely give them a call and get another opinion from him...

Great luck

We also had a bad experience with our first ENT who was recommended by our pediatrician but then I found Dr. Mancuso and we LOVE him. Very knowledgable and great with kids. And he is great with the parents as well. Good Luck.

We just received a recommendation from our pediatrician for a ENT doctor. Our doctor spoke very highly of him. We have not been seen by this doctor, but just thought I would let you know his name and number to see if he would be a fit for you. His name is Dr Mancuso and he is on ValVista and Baseline. Their office number is: ###-###-#### Good luck and I am sorry that you have not had very good luck with doctors. It can be very frustrating.

Dr Jeffery McKenna at East Valley ENT - He is the best. He is in it for the kids. We first dicovered him fm our pediatrician for my 2wk old daughter who had reflux and he has been treating her for 2 yrs now. Also my son who is 7 has been having really bad sinus infections for the last few yrs, he has been sent to allergy drs you name it. Finally I took him to Dr McKenna anf he took one look at him & said it's his adnoids - they need to be removed. We sched the appt and sure enough that was the issue of his infections. He had larger than normal adnoids(according to the nurse they were HUGE) Ever since the surgery he can breath better, sleep better, he doesn't snore like he use to. I would recommend him to any one. He is so great with the kids and they feel very comfortable around him. I think that is the best of all. He is in Awatukee right off of I-10 & warner I believe - It's east Valley ENT - Dr Jeffery McKenna. You won't be disappaointed. There is also another one Dr Mancuso He is the only "kids only" ENT in the valley but I will NEVER EVER go to him again. He is very rude and has no bedside manners what so ever and the sad thing is when I mentioned that to some of my daughters other drs - they know what I am talking about. He is said to be good but I never found that out due to his rudness and I will never return to his office. I was refered to him by dr McKenna when my daughter was having some reflux issues that McKenna wasn't familiar about. But like I said he was very rude and iconciderate to me and not very nice with my daughter who at the time was only 10 months old. Just a little insight on my experiance with Mancuso.

FYI...from just a person in medical field...... I wouldn,t necessaraily trust MD's from PHX Top Docs they are just recomemmendations from "the good ole boys" club (not necessarily the best but friends of other MD's).

Our family uses Dr. David Mendelson of ENT Specialists of AZ. Website www.entsoa.com. There are two locations in East Mesa and Tempe. My son has had ear tubes put in by him and I have had my tonsills removed. He is great, good credentials and personable!

Hope this helps,
