I am taking my son to the dr for a perforated eardrum and while we just changed to this new dr and have to have a referral for an ENT. My daughter and I have been the only two to visit. But when we have gone we have seen a PA. Now that is who my son is seeing I asked when I made the appointment is the Dr never available and they said she is booked way out in advance. I am just wondering would you still continue to go there? And also I have nothing against PA's either and also they are open on Saturdays which is good for my husbands work schedule and take walk ins. Please let me know thank you.

What can I do next?

I always see my children's pediatrician when we go in no matter what. If your doctor is in the office and you want to see him/her then they need to come in and see you. P.A.'s are great and I don't mind my children seeing them when they are sick. If at anytime I felt like I wanted their doctor to take a look at them then I would expect that to happen. There are ton's of great doctors that are open on Saturday's and Sunday's so if you feel uncomfortable then change doctors. I take my children to Cook Children's off University ###-###-#### they are awesome and open Sat. & Sun.

My 10 year old son had this surgery in Nov. 2007 and was very dizzy and unbalanced the next two weeks. The surgery is very painful as well and the doctors do not tell you this. The surgery fixed his eardrum but the doctor somehow punctured the part of the ear that holds the fluid in the middle ear and it drain and killed his nerve cells and no he can no longer hear out of his ear. So far I have been told that there is nothing they can do and that it is irreverseable. Dr. Leslie Strange is the one that performed the surgery. I do not recommend him. We are now having to go to a specialist just for ears. Hopefully he will give us some hope. His name is Dr. Robert Peters. He is suppose to be one of the best ear specialist in Texas. Check all of the side effects before you sign any consent forms for this surgey.

Nothing against PA's, but I ALWAYS ask to see my pedi, unless he is out of town. I would find a doctor that can handle his patient load better. Do you see a pedi or family practice doc? Also, does your insurance require a referral? We were able to schedule our ENT appointment without a referral.

I don't have advice for you on the regular doctor, but I know an EXCELLENT pediatric ENT-- Dr. AMy Coffey. I think her practice is right on the tollway, but she is an AMAZING person, and incredibly conscientious.

If you visit her, please let her know I recommended her!

With my daughter's endocrinologist for her type 1 diabetes, we see the doc every other time and the Diabetes Educator/nurse every other time (we go every three months) but that is how the practice is set up and it works well. I would not go to a practice where I never see the the doc as that is why I am there......just me maybe but I would change ENTs...........good luck
