Switch to water only unless they are at the dinner table. The health and dental benefits would also be enormous.
I am looking for drinking cups with dripless lids that can be used with straws for my kids who are too old for sippy cups, but still tip over their drinks. I want something that will fit in a car cup holder. My seven year old and her friends, and our dog, knock over cups quite frequently, and I am looking for something to contain the mess. I had two sets of tupperware cups with straw seals, but my older kids who do the dishes have lost nearly all the lids. I know that I can buy more lids, but I am looking for a cheaper alternative. Something that I won't pay so much for that I get mad when they throw away a lid, or the whole cup. I would like something easy to clean without a lot of valves. They don't have to come with their own straws, those get thrown away also. So a cup that can use a regular staw is best.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I bought some Take and Toss cups at Target. They were pretty inexpensive. I plan on looking at the websites and checking out some of the other suggestions also.

I do not have advice about one particular cup to buy, because I have not found the perferct one myself yet. I do want to recommend you look very carefully and make sure it is dishwasher safe. I have been noticing lately that a lot of the cups that are on the shelves right now, can not go in the dishwasher. Who wants to spend all that time washing cups? good luck
I like the Sigg Bottles for kids. They don't spill and they don't leach dangerous chemicals into your child's drink.

If you need more info on water bottles and plastic leaching, just e-mail me.
They have all kinds of cups out today but I used to buy my daughter the thermal cups that you use for coffee(like a travel mug). They have a snap shut piece over the drinking hole and some are big enough for a straw but if she is seven she might like the snap shut without a straw. These can be found in Walmart or Kmart(they have more of a selection) in an aisle near the coffee makers. They are great and come in different sizes and colors and they keep their drinks cold too!!
Good Luck

I used and still do a water bottle. They can open and close it. I got 5 and rule is only water in car.
Check with your Tupperware dealer, they have what you are looking for.
If you do not know a dealer, look up Tupperware in your telephone book.

We have a ton of the Take and Toss from first years. They are plastic in different colors and styles. But they are meant to be able to throw them away if you want, but I've kept on to them for a while like 2 yrs and they're still good. Go through the dishwasher and everything. You can get them just about anywhere and real cheap too. There is all kinds of options from tupperware like cups with lids and straws or the others that have sippy cup like spout. We also have a ton of the take and toss plasticware for the kids, they're smaller but good for small foods, yogurts puddings, etc and easy to pack on the go. Jennifer
I use a lot of the "first years" take and toss. They are inexpensive and don't seem to leak unless they are turned upside down- and it comes out of the straw part. You can purchase them at Target.
I have some blue plastic cups that come in 2 sizes. They have holes for straws or you can flip a tab and drink directly from the cup. I think they are made by glad. You can get them at Walmart or some grocery stores. I really like them.
Grandma with 4 kids and 8 grandchildren.
Playtex cups. We love them.
TARGET, where else!!! In the baby section - I think they were 6 for $3 or so. They are designed for several uses and then toss - I've been using them for a couple of months.
Walmart and most grocery stores have take along with straw holes. They come with straws but you can use your own if you lose them. They are disposable but you can re use them for a while! I think they come in a 4 pack for around $3. We took them camping. We use the Nalgeen kids sport bottles as our regular sippies since all the china plastic recalls.
I have 3 year old twins that recently informed me that they are too big for their sippys but I too wanted something that wouldn't drip in the car. I'm also concerned about all the pthalates in all this plastic stuff so I purchased stainless steel water bottles from Kleen Kanteen with the sport caps. You can see them at this website (they had the best price and free shipping when I purchased them):

So far, they have not leaked for us unless you open the valve, turn it upside down and shake it. It has a protective cover for the sport cap too so won't get dirty. The downside of these is that they "sweat" when you put cold liquids in it but there is a company called BuiltNY (www.builtny.com) that makes insulated carriers that fit them. The other drawback is that they are kind of expensive. Well, I hope this helps you or someone else. Bye :)
I use the take an toss cups with lids for straws. They aren't toally drip proof, but I do not have a problem with them making a mess. (I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 2 year old) The straws fit snugly in the hole, I have been using regular bendy straws, but they do come with their own straws that can be reused. The lids pop on nice and tight too.
My mother in law bought my son this "Cars" cup that has a lid and a straw. The lid snaps very securely to the cup so there really isn't a problem with it leaking there. I assume she found it at walmart and assume that I'm sure the same kind of cup comes in different character choices. My friend's son also had these playtex ones that have a straw in them and you can close the straw so that it won't leak. My son has one made buy nubby and the straw is even leak proof (it has that nubby no valve design). Just a few suggestions to look for.
