TIA!

What can I do next?

As with Disney movies in general, you'll get violence, sadness, teasing, bad behavior, and scary parts, plus some elements that seemed all right when the movie came out in 1941 but are not considered acceptable now.

Of course, children like bad behavior and scary parts and all that. Look at 2012 movies! I remember crying as a kid when Dumbo's mama was put in chains for charging her son's bullies. But I cry at everything.

The ending is happy, and that seems to resolve all the issues for little ones.

Why not rent it first? If your grandchildren really like it and want to see it again, then you could buy it.

There is bullying, drunkeness, racisim, stereotyping, what appears to be an acid trip to me but that is looking at it thru adult eyes. But when my son was 2ish he LOVED it - and still loves it at 5 - but he is picking up on some of the issues I touched on and we are discussing them as he brings them up.

My 3 year old watched it with no problem. It's a pretty depressing movie for me, though!

Haha, Kristina, I agree!! I watched it a few weeks ago for the first time since I was a kid and, yes, it is a bit freaky. My 2 yr old was afraid of the scene where Dumbo gets drunk during the bubble-bath. My 5 yr old loved it. I wouldn't buy it for my own kids--maybe rent it and see if they like it before you purchase it.

I haven't seen it in years. I don't remember any scary parts, but it is a tear jerker. It's a classic, that over a billion of us watched when we were little. Let the kids enjoy the movie.
