E-readers - Mashpee,MA

I have a Kindle. I love it! It is really easy to download books at Amazon, and they have a ton of books! I have had my Kindle about a year, and have downloaded about 80 books. I dont really have any complaints about it, it meets all my needs.

We just bought my son a Nook Color for his birthday. My birthday is in a few weeks and I want one too! It is simple to use, has internet access (as long as you have wireless internet available), has the ability to listen to music, store music and store pictures. Some of the downloads have been instant, some have taken a few minutes. They have 1500 free titles and most everything else seems priced reasonably.

ok here is the catch if you buy a kindle from amazon. you can not import files that you may already have on your computer (like from free book site.) I even called amazon and asked them about this. so you pretty much have to buy from amazon (or some library books will work) it is the same thing with alot of the name brand ereaders. with sony you can import files but you can not import anything that is bought from amazon for the kindle or something for the nook ect. you're best bet is to go with a cheaper internet tablet. they make good ones for less then $200. you want one that has android 2.2 os or higher. this way you can download the free apps like kindle for android nook for android ect and you can get books anywhere you feel like it!

I absolutly love my Kindle. It's one of the best presents I've ever gotten. I have a hard time staying away from it. However, if you're going to use it to download kids books that have lots of pictures, you may want to look a the Nook (by Barnes & Noble) since they now have one that's in color. Personally, I'd still take my Kindle over the Nook, but the Nook is still worth looking into as it might fit your needs better.

I was given an Amazon Kindle for this past Christmas and if its at all possible, I think I go through MORE books than I did before. I love it. Its very convenient, it has wireless access, great battery life (something like a month I think?), easy to use and has an option for the machine to actually read to you instead if you would like. I believe the option is called text to speech. The voice is a bit goofy sounding, but it might be cool in the car for your little ones. Lots of free content. Amazon often has promotional periods for newer titles so they're free for a bit. I'm not sure about other e-readers, but with the kindle you can also sample books before buying them, so you get the first maybe 5 chapters for free to decide if you like it. I also have access to lots of games, mostly word games.

Whatever e-reader you decide to get (I personally have not heard great reviews about the nook) do consider spending the extra cash to get the wireless option. It will really come in handy!

The nook by barnes and noble is the best if you want to download kids books as well as books for you. They even have a special nook section for kids. Definitely get he nook color. You just sign up with barnes and noble on the device and set up your payment options to pay for your books and you gan instantly download books. You can download via a wifi connection or download for your computer.

I have a nookcolor and LOVE it.
It does kids books really well because it's color and it has a read to you feature with some kids books.
The nookcolor hooks directly into the barnes&noble.com online store and you download them via wireless internet.
it does not have 3G but with the soon updates it is getting more and more like a tablet pc. IT's getting Android 2.2 in a few weeks.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks and I've finished prob 4 books I just can't put it down! it also plays music and videos.

We got our daughters Kindle's for Christmas and they LOVE them. They are 16 and 14 years old. The 16 y/o was required to have one for her AP English class. Any book written pre copywright is "Free". The 14 y/o is dyslexic and has really turned into an avid reader just since Christmas. She uses the read to me feature and is able to listen and read at the same time. Kindle books are downloadable from Amazon.com and depending on the book very reasonable. They both acess the internet and are able to facebook and look up information for homework when we are away from home. A Kindle holds 3000 books and they can be deleted so that you can add new ones. It also has a dictionary so that if you come across a word you don't know, you highlight it and can look up the definition immediately. There are many other applications that I'm not even aware of but the kids of today automatically know what to do. Another nice thing about the Kindle is that it can be read outside in the sunlight where the other e-readers can not. Of course you then need a light to read in the dark, but there are mini book lights that they take along so that they can read in the car at night. Hope that this helps you decide.

i have a sony e-reader and its GREAT i can get books from the sony store and download adobe pdf or epub books from the library that we belong to

I have an older Sony eReader and I love it. For use with kids you probably need a color one, tho.

The thing I love the most aobut mine is it is compatible with my local library system. I am an easy-to-please reader, so I almost never pay for a book download. I check them out from the library (download version). I love this option!

If you want to be able to do this..check with the model you buy to be sure it is a compatible model.
