Try leaving her with her own pack of wipes and explaining that before she touches her ears she needs to clean off her hands. I would also do a warm epson salt soak at night and in the morning. It should dry out any infection
My 4 year old daughter got her ears pierced about 3 weeks ago, got the gold posts to prevent infection. Her ears were doing great until yesterday when they looked a little pink and she said they were itchy. So I put the solution (they give you from the store) twice as much as suggested yesterday. This morning when I left for work, her earlobes were still a little pink. Is there a chance we can avoid them getting completely infected, or is it just downhill from here? No matter how many times I tell her not to play with her earrings, she still does. When I got my ears pierced as a child, my lobes got infected twice. I had to get my ears pierced a total of 3 times before they actually took. I don't want my daughter to end up doing the same. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

What about a little bit of bacitracin? Wash her ears thoroughly with soap and water at least once a day, while in the bath. Continue the antiseptic solution treatment as prescribed.
I.ve had my ears peirced twice when I was but a little grasshopper. The first time they peirced with a needle and a cucumber the second time with an Ice cube. Two holes Every now and than one gets infected and I take the earings out . the other hole never gets infected I use witch hazel it seems to help great. You dont want her to be uncomfortable. It is hard to sleep on a ear that hurts. God be with you what ever choice you make will be the best for your little grasshopper. L.
It can't hurt to keep trying to get rid of the infection, right? If ot gets worse then at least you did your best.
I used Melaleuca oil with my daughter and they never got infected. Anytime they were a little discolored I used either the oil or antibiotic cream. I put it on the post then put them in her ear. I also made sure that they stayed dry after swimming or a shower. As long as they do not get totally red then you should be fine.
Tea tree oil works very well for clearing up infections from piercings. Only use a little dab at first, because it may be strong for a young child's skin. Some people are just super sensitive to the metal in the posts, even gold (it can sometimes be mixed with nickle or other metals). Surgical steel can sometimes be even worse. In those cases, it may be best to wait until your daughter is much older, since sometimes sensitivities can calm down a bit as you get older. Not to mention she could clean the area herself and not play with the earrings. She is probably playing with the earrings also because they itch.
Make sure you are turning them and cleaning them. If i can remember its ok if its light pink with NO odor. If it starts smelling or pussing and red then its infected. It wont hurt to keep cleaning it. :) Good Luck!
It could be she is allergic to the nickel in the metal. Very common. After using Neosparin(sp) if it does not clear up; take her to the doctor and have them checked. Also you may want to check to see if she has any traces of cotton or lint stuck on the posts. This can sometimes happen when cleaning.
Although I do not personally have any advice for you, I am casting a new show for a major cable network having to do with helping families in need with the help of a nanny. It is an issue based show, not as drama based as shows such as NANNY 911, or SUPERNANNY. I cannot tell you the name of the network over e-mail, BUT I can tell you over the phone. We will also be able to give you more information.
Also, even though you yourself may not need help, maybe you know another family that does?
Please e-mail ____@____.com ASAP as we are moving very quickly. Please e-mail your contact information so that I can get into contact with you. OR you can simply call me at ###-###-#### and ask for either me (E.), Erin, or Emily.
Hope we can help you out!

Use neosporin on them 2 to 3 times a day.
I find that tea tree oil works wonders! Not only is it all natural but it helps with pain as well as infection and prevents scars on cuts and scrapes. My husband is tall and hits his head on everything, so I dab some tea tree oil on his scrapes and it heals faster and without a scar. Also works great on acne! It has a potent odor so I would recommend applying it right before bed. Take a q-tip, dip it in the oil and gently rub it around the earring on both sides of the ear lobe. I have found it at Rite Aid and health food stores.
Keep up the cleaning, several times a day if possible. Also make sure that the earring backing is as loose as possible, so that the cleaning solution can get inside.
My daughter had the same problem! She actually pulled the earring through her lobe! We ended up using the captive bead rings in her ears that way she couldn't pull them through. We also used a little bit of Mela gel (Melaleuca oil in gel form)
and it healed up in a matter of days! Now if she gets the tiniest scratch she asks for the mela gel and she feels better!
