First let me put out on the line everything that I have. I am an Idiopathic epileptic ( uncontrolable seizures ), I have hypoactive thyroidism, an open Ventricular Septal Defect, and hypoglycemic tendencies. On the 4th of July, I was putting plants in our fish tank, and was goung to sit down, when I got RELLY dizzy, light headed, nautious, my toung was tingley, my lips were numb, and I was freezing but I was sweating like I had run 5 miles. I told my neurologist this, and he had me get my dilantin level checked. He also wanted me to gave a glucose tolerance test. ( I AM NOT PREGO, AND CANT GET PREGO. HAD A HYSTERECTOMY 3 YRS AGO. ) Well I went to get the gluco test today, and found out that my dilantin level was ok, but there was " other things ". I asked the poker lady what she read on the report, and she sad my red blood cell levels were up.

I am so scared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have so much that is allready wrong with me, I dont think I can do more! Not to mention the fact I am DEATHLY AFFRAID of needles!!!!

Have any of you experianced this or know anyone who has??? I have an appt on thurs to " discuss " all the results. Im gona make myself sick with worry......................

So What Happened?

BIG SIGH OF RELIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dr says blood was within the regular levels, and blood sugar was fine. She thinks it is my dilantin. She said that because I take the "fake" form of it it could be causing the problems. She asked me if it had changed at all since I had been taking it, and I wasn't sure. Once I got home, I noticed that it had. She said that so many company's make it, that the ingredients could be different, and that is what is throwing me off. To be sure, she is going to have me do a 3 hr EEG on wednesday and check it. If it shows no change, than she will adjust my meds. Thank GOD no needle's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all your help. I will let you know about the EEG results......

Went to dr for EEG results. She said that it was normal. She said that what had happoned was, that my brain was trying to have a migraine. She said that the more stressed I get the higher my chances of a migraine are. I guess it is like the temp gauge in your car. It runs warm, and sometimes it is in the red. Well she prescribed me a WONDERFUL migraine med that is TRULY a GOD send. Let me know if you want the name of the med, and I will let you know.

I'm in the medical field. You could have just been dehydrated. We also see it frequently in smokers. Don't worry until you see what your Dr. had to say. It doesn't mean much until it's matched with your clinical picture, which your Dr. has to do.

High red blood cell levels can indicate a lot of things. One your marrow in your bones could be over producing. Red blood cells carry oxygen and can sometimes be compensating for low oxgen levels due to poor heart or lung function. Check your medications and make sure that nothing has steroids in it, this can also increase red cells. Do not panic, work with your doctor and seek an accurate diagnosis.

The red cells throw up a red flag. Did they ever check your blood for Hemocromotosis? That's just iron heave blood. It's not life threatening, you just watch what you eat and do the blood withdrawal regularily (I know you are afrain of needles, but it really doesn't hurt.) and if you do have iron overload you need to get rid of it because it can cause other problems, and you have enough already. A simple blood test will determine this.
