Embarrassing Unwanted Facial Hair.

Ok ladies I hope that I am not the only one with this problem. As I get older I have noticed that my "stache" is getting darker and longer. It is so embarrassing!!! It is pretty sad when my DH tells me that I need to do something about it. I use Sally Hansen's facial bleach. But that only lightens the hair. I am afraid that if I wax it that the hair will come back thicker and darker. Is that what happens? What are some of the other products out there and what are results? Thanks in advance.

electrolysis is the only way to go. lasar is not permanant and waxing distorts the hair folical causing ingrown hairs and other problems. you have to have seveal sessions with electolysis but once it's gone - it's gone. it's the ONLY permanant way to remove hair. Pam Heberts Electrolysis Clinic in fort worth off of camp bowie is excellent.

Threading is better than waxing because it removes from the root all the time and waxing may not. Plus it hurts less. though both hurt. You can get threading done at Grapevine Mills Mall in a kiosk near Old Navy or at India Eyes in Irving. It's an old method of hair removal that's been around for a long time in the East and is now becoming popular in the U.S.

However, if you have dark hair, I'd go right to laser. I would but I'm light skinned, light hair and the lasers don't work on that hair as well.

Waxing will not increase growth. It may actually do the opposite as the hair is removed from the root. Try that or maybe laser removal. Whatever you do, do not shave! If you do, you will change the texture of your skin and facial hair for the worse. It will also increase the hair's growing cycle. The increase in hair growth is caused by a decrease in estrogen as we age and exit our child bearing years.

I've had laser hair removal done and it was the BEST thing I've ever done for myself. One you get the bulk of it done (about 4 visits) you normally only have to go back once a year for a touch up (which is $25 for chin or lip, or $50 for face). I loved it so much that I've also had my underarms and bikini area done!!

Ever heard of WAXING honey??? That is the only way to go if you want it completely gone. Yes, it does require maintenance, but what doesn't??

I have a waxing person who I really like, but you can go to any salon and they will do it for you.

It is a bit uncomfortable (pain wise), but it is better in the long run and it comes back less and less darker.

I know the feeling. I have been waxing, bleaching, plucking, anything possible since I was 12! I found the best thing I can do is getting one of those wand that someone mentioned above. I get rid of it about once a week. Sometimes, I'll use a bleach, but I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin, so I get a reaction occasionaly. Not so sexy! :) Good luck!

My 12 yr old daughter has a stache. It has bothered her for yrs. About 3 yrs ago, I got a little battery powered razor called "Perfect Touch" (I think that is the name) from Walgreen's for about $10. She uses this when she feels the need. The hair has not been coming back thicker or darker. It has worked for us.

I went as far as taking her to a laser hair removal place but she is too young for that right now. I didn't want to risk any permanent damage.

Hope this helps!
Susan

PS......YEAH school is almost in!! We are taking our last hurrah for the summer later this week to FL. I can't believe it but we are taking an extra 12 yr old along with us, YIKES, but it will be fun!!! Moms will get the routine back soon!

D.,
I use the Sally Hansen Wax strips (not the wax itself these are small strips), it's pretty easy to do and cleans up pretty well. I don't think it grows back thicker or darker...i do it once every 2,3wks but doing it weekly might be a better way to keep it cleen. I buy them from walmart

I'm good friends with a doctor that does laser hair removal, and she recommends a person that does not do the laser hair removal to shave their facial hair. The other options like creams, lotions and wax can irritate your skin or after using them for a while they just simply stop working. A lot of people that I know that have followed her advice about shaving are so happy doing so and their skin looks so smooth and pretty. Yes, they do have to do it every day, but they all agree that it's fast and worth it.

i did electrolysis...ouch!! and you can't get every new hair. costly and time consuming. even after many sessions i still had problems that needed more help.

did waxing...ok

went for a consulatation on laser and the DOCTOR recommended nair for the face!!! it's fast, easy and inexpensive. just don't leave it on too long. i do it in the shower twice a month and don't have any more issues. my skin is super sensitive but i haven't had any problems - yippee!!

facial hair sucks. best wishes!!

i personally like waxing, but you have to keep it up...i use a wax that i got from sally's beauty supply. i forget the name...but you can ask them for help. i dont feel that it grows back thicker or darker but it grows back so you have to keep doing it, as with any method of removal...except laser, i suppose

Laser has worked great for me! Since your hair is dark, it should work great for you too.

Just make sure you have it done in a doctor's office and not some "clinic" somewhere!

Good luck.

I would use the facial hair trimmer that was mentioned as well. It does not have the same effect as shaving with a razor.

And also, waxing actually will lessen the smount of hair, and make it finer over time. The only downside is, you have to let it grow out so long before waxes.
