Why don't you make a donation to locks of love. They need 10 inches at least. You can donate as long as your hair is not color/chemically treated.
Have you ever sold your hair? Where and how long was it? How much did you get? I have someone donating their long ponytail as part of our fundraising efforts and was curious as to where I could post it for sale.

There actually is a market for selling hair (human and horse) for sewing and artwork.
I got curious one day when I remembered the story where a poor couple were looking for ways to buy a present for each other for their anniversary. His one valuable possession was a fancy watch he'd inherited from his father and she had beautiful long hair. He ended up selling his watch to buy her a comb for her hair, and she sold her hair to buy him a fob for his watch. It got me thinking - do people still sell their hair? For what?
This is what I found:

Here's their bidding page:
i have looked into it, but could never find out how to actually sell it. I would think that if it's long enough to donate it, it would be long enough to sell. make sure you know if the hair has ever been dyed, and if they used a curlin iron or flat iron a long. And if they use a lot of product in their hair I would think all of that does matter.
maybe call around to some Hollywood salons. I would think the Cancer Society would have info on this tho.
I tried that many years ago and never found a buyer, but that was before the internet. There is a website called hairwork that has some classifieds - you might be able to sell it there.
I sold my hair - it was 24" - I got $200 for it. I had to pay $20 or $25 to place the ad on this website. It took a while to get any responses for my hair.
