I had itching begin while pg and my son is 18 months old and it continues. i have been to the gyno several times. no yeast infection and prescribed topical cremes, nystatin etc tried over the counter cortizone cremes and at the end of my rope as relief is temporary. i would like to know the cause instead of just using ointments. i know ph balance gets messed up with pg hormones but i need some help. willing to try anything holistic, willing to change diet-anything or other ideas appreciated. thanks.

AG I think has hit it. Well with me atleast. I get sooo itchy whenever I wear pads or liners. I realized this after my son was born and I had gone 9 months with out the itch and then all of a sudden it was back when i started my periods again. If you are needing a liner I would suggest looking into mama cloth aka cloth pads. I haven't had the itch for two months now and am loving it! I'm also going to start using the Diva Cup which is an alternative to tampons. You should look into it!
But when I was still using disposables I would put on some personal lubricant and it wouldn't be as bad.

Are you wearing any type of panty liner or pads? I would def stop for as long as you can and see if that helps. I have noticed this is a growing concern with the women around me. I believe its the chemicals in liner/pads that help keep you feeling dry that are def drying out your skin. I also experienced this myself...I used over the counter creme with much relief. Hope this helps.

I can't imagine what it is, and I know your doctor said no yeast infection, but have you tried taking loads of acidophiles? You can't take too much and you can get bottles of it at health food stores and even grocery and drug stores. It's good bacteria like you find in yogurt. It can help a lot! Try it.

Also, have you tried using a free and clear detergent with no dyes or perfumes? Cut out any detergents, fabric softeners, etc. with scent or dyes in them. Try to use some 100% natural stuff. Likewise with bath and body products -lay off of any scented or dyed washes, soaps or lotions. I'm sure you're not douching, but if you are, stop immediately! It's terrible for you. Do NOT use any powders, scented tampons or pads or pantyliners. Make sure your underwear is 100% cotton and fits well -even a little loosely. In fact, I would go out and purchase some 100% dye-free organic cotton panties and see if those helped. What do you use for birth control? You may need something else, especially if you're using any foams, spermicides, films or condoms w/ lubricant or nonoxyl 9. Nonoxyl 9 sets me on fire AND it makes me itch for several days just like a yeast infection! You may have done all of this already, but any of the things listed could be the culprit.

Have you looked "down there"? Do you have any white spots? I have recently been told I have lichen sclerosis which is not that common and so it is freqently misdiagnosed as yeast or other infection. For me, the symptoms come and go. I think it is more common with post menopausal women but maybe the hormonal changes with pregnancy could bring it on too. Unfotunately, there is no treatment other than prescription cortisoids to keep it in check, it is a chronic condition. I hope that's not what you have but thought I would mention so you could talk to your doctor. Good luck

Every so often, soak in a warm bath with a cup each of vinegar, epsom salts and plain yogurt. It's very soothing to the skin all over. Other things to consider - use less detergent in your laundry (or double rinse it - my washer has a setting for this), give up fabric softener, when showering be sure to really rinse off all the soap (rinse from the top down - I really like a shower head I can take down and use all over so I'm completely rinsed off).

This is the only thing that has worked for me.

Take Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar with the "mother" (and it has to be Braggs, no other brand) and dilute it with water on a washcloth. Press the washcloth to the itchy area.

It may burn and sting for a few seconds but it has ALWAYS brought me relief--better than any cream or ointment! You just have to endure the stinging. The relief after is immediate, and lasts a long time.

I saw that someone mentioned vinegar. If that doesn't work (and it should work pretty quickly) try a baking soda bath (4-5 inches of water and 1/2 to 1 cup baking soda). Cutting out sugar is also a good idea.

I'd try another doctor. The yeast could have come back, or you could even have an allergy.

Also, get yourself on a daily probiotic, and stay on it. Probiotics are extremely healthy, help prevent yeast and help build immunity and so much more! It certainly won't hurt you and very well might help you. I'll be glad to recommend a tiny pill to take daily if you would like to contact me.

I know your dr. says it's not a yeast infection but this is what I've done for a y.i. and it costs little to no $ so you may try it...mix equal parts cultured butter milk and water, warm it up and pour it over (or douche with it if it's internal). Perfectly natural, won't hurt a thing and it may help. Best of luck!

Make sure you are not using any sprays and being pregnant, I am sure you are not douching. Are you wearing cotton undeerwear only? Try going without any underwear at night as well. What detergent are you using? Are all of the cleaning chemicals you are using on your clothes "Free" detergents. Sometimes with pregnancy, the PH balance gets off and sometims with hormones causing the release of hormones, your skin is more sensative. I think I would also head back to the doctor and ask for a "wet Prep" as well. Rule out any other type of bacterial infection. NO POWDERS BTW.
