I ordered my Dad a personalized Father's Day card and included some of my favorite childhood pics with Dad (cost less than $5) - I did the same for my Mom and Grandma for Mother's Day and it was a big hit!!

I also scanned some old and recent photos of dad and created a photobook. I've posted all my "thoughtful" father's day ideas and recommendations here: http://www.skinnyscoop.com/list/L./grown-up-fathers-day-g...

A similar idea to what you did last year, but I plan on doing stepping stones with my daughter's footprint each year. That way we will eventually have enough to make a really cute little stepping stone pathway in our backyard and look back and see how much she has grown.

i printed a nice pic of our little girl in a ridiculous/cute outfit he had dressed her in once.
then got a "floating frame" the one with 2 pieces of clear glass in a frame. i let her finger paint on the back one, and then, when dry, placed the pic on top and put it together.
the pic is smaller than the glass, so her finger painting in the background made a really sweet sort of "matting" for the pic! she even stepped on it, so we have her little foot print in there!
before the back dried all the way, i used a q-tip to write/wipe the words Happy Fathers Day 2011.
it came out so sweet!
i may also get him a video game.

I mentioned this in another post in the past we went to a pottery place and the girls painted a coffee mug. He uses it almost every time he drinks coffee at home.

He likes specialty beers, so I will probably have the girls paint some beer glasses and buy some beer.

I have been taking a ton of black-and-whites of my husband and son together... some posed, some candid, very artsy and I am framing the best ones for him. Of course, he'll get a card and dinner per his request. We usually host his entire family on the actual day, so we'll go to dinner as our little family on that Saturday.

You can do a handprint thing each year, to have the growth/size comparison. You could do a notebook/scrapbook that you and later your daughter writes him a letter in each year, add drawings, photos, etc.

Does he like to grill? Get him some grill equipment like tongs, flavored smoke chips, a chefs hat, etc.

Does he like to golf? Get him some new balls (lol sorry), tees, a glove and a new putter.

Does he like sports? Get him tickets to a ballgame. Or dress up your daughter in his favorite team's jerseys/ball cap.

There are tons of Father's Day kids books out there as well "Kisses for Daddy" or "The Best Daddy Ever".

Get a frame at Things Remembered, have them engrave "Daddy & Me" and put a nice photo of him & her in it!

If he's like most dads, he loves good food and his girls! Cook or take him out for his fav. dinner and either take a picture of your daughters for him and put it in a pretty frame or have a friend take a snapshot of the three of you and frame it. This is something that he can put in his office or by the kitchen coffee pot so he can see it. A 5x7 size is always good.
