Okay so I am getting an early start, but this next father's day is my husbands first official father's day. we have a six month old son, will be seven months by then. anyway, do any of you have any good ideas of what I can possibly involve my son in making for his dad's first fathers day. i know handprints, or those clay type handprints. I would love to make and clip videos with music, but I am not that tech savvy. any other ideas?
thanks

On my hubbys first fathers day we made.him a daddys book. Basically just a big photo album that we covered the outside with nice fabric and trimmed it with ribbon then put lots of of the baby and baby with daddy with captions of why we loved him and then left lots of room to add to.it each fathers day.

If you really want to make clips w/ music & videos - I suggest taking a look at One True Media. You can do a lot of stuff for free (although there is some pretty cool stuff you can pay for too) and it is *very* easy. I managed to do it even in the sleep deprived 1st year. ;)
Just search One True Media online, and make sure you've picked out some good pics/clips.
Have fun!

www.kodakgallery.com
has some GREAT photos gifts.
You can put your baby or you/baby on the gift.
I think they even have ties.
I have ordered from there before and it is great!

At 6 months old, its not like they can 'make' anything.
But you can do hand-prints etc.

My cousin put her son in one of her husband's work outfits and took a picture and framed it...she has done this from year 1 and looking at all the pictures through out the years is adorable.

Cousin's husband is a professional and seeing the lil' guy in a shirt and tie is really cute...by about age 5 she could add the pants and just roll up the sleeves :)

What does your husband wear to work?

I have made my husband a stepping stone every year since his first Father's Day. We have seven of them now and we made a walkway in our backyard with them. They all have either my kids hands or feet in them. We put the date on it and decorate them. They are precious and Im so glad we have them. Its amazing to see how much the kids grow from year to year. My kids love to make them with me. He looks forward to it every year. I always get him a personal gift as well.

For my husband's first father's day - I bought a white T-Shirt, went to Michaels and bought wash-resistant paint and dipped my son's hands in the paint and then on the shirt.

I had a cup/ mug with his fave pic of him & DD, and a tee shirt, with a very sweet picture of her printed on it. The shirt would be cuter if I'd thought of handprints too, but its very sweet. The clay hand/ foot prints are really precious, I did one for our xmas tree too, and painted it in glue & glitter to really make it pop.. adorable. Also bought a special travel mug, that you can add printed pictures into, DH is very proud of his cup at work, always showing it off :)

My husband loved when my daughter was dressed in his clothes and when I had her picture taken in his favorite teams jersey. Those are the only two personal things he has in his office at work.

I took a picture of my husband when he was little and had it put on a shirt for my son to wear. (I KNOW, kinda backwards but he LOVED it!)

This year my son is getting a matching baseball hat of my husband's favorite football team. I'm also replacing some of his "team clothes" since he lost 70 pounds and all his old stuff falls off him now.

Don't forget sounds! Does he babble? giggle? Find a way to capture his cuteness that way. I sure wish I had a recording of my little son's adorable giggle. (He is way too old for giggling now that he has graduated high school.)

Walgreens online photo center has a collage option. I uploaded several pictures of my DD and my DH and made a "Daddy and Me" collage and put it in a frame. It was very affordable and they can usually do it the same day you order it.

You could make a 'Daddy and me' frame... Put your son's handprints in one corner, footprints in another. Find your favorite picture with your son and husband in it (or take one if you have to... or use the FIRST picture of the two of them together) and frame it up. That's what I'm planning for my hubby's first 'real' father's day this year. :)
