Depending on the individual grandfathers, you could get coffee cups or plastic drinking cups and let the kids design them with their own ideas, or you could buy white T-shirts and let the kids decorate with puff paint. If the granddads like to barbecue you could also do aprons. There are also hand print kits that the grandfathers could keep as a keep sake. All of these ideas are really fun for the kids.
last year for father's day we did this for my daycare and my own children. i used regular fabric paint and got a footprint from each child on pretty colored cardstock. i then typed the poem:
walk a little slower daddy, said a child so small. i'm walking in you footsteps and don't want to fall.
sometimes your steps are very fast, sometimes they are hard to see. so walk a little slower daddy, for you are leading me.
someday when i'm all grown up, you are what i'll want to be. then i will have a little child who will want to follow me.
and i will want to lead just right, and know that i am true, so walk a little slower, daddy, for i must follow you.
i then matted a picture and put all 3 things on a pretty piece of 8 x 10 paper and framed it with those $3 walmart picture frames. it was a big hit, hope this helps!

Get plain white hankies and let the children color them. Lay between two pieces of waxpaper and iron on med-high setting carfully so the crayon wax doesn't run. (crayola brand works best) Make sure to iron all crayon marks well and lay flat to cool. The heat sets the color and makes it permenant. I have done thid several times in daycare classes and Sunday School classes.
The lines need to be fairly dark so after the children do their art you make have to go over it a little. Or with your age of children you can trace their hand prints on the hanky and find a Bible verse or quote to write on it.
Have a great time with the the kids and may God bless you,
M.
Do you get family fun magazine? They have fantastic ideas for everything! They have it all on line at http://familyfun.go.com/ you can use their search and come up with different father's day ideas.
For the grandpa's last year I made a "Happy Father's day" banner that the mom's or other family member hung up so it was a surprise. I took a picture of my daughter with each letter of the phrase and then printed them all off and punched holes, one in each corner, in them. Then I took ribbon and strung them all together so it could be hung. They loved it! It was fun for my then 2 year old to do and we got some pretty crazy pictures that the grandparents loved. And with a 3 month old she should just sit and let you take a picture of her with the letter.
We like to walk with Grandpa, His steps are short like ours. He never says "Now Hurry UP", he always takes his time. Most people have to hurry, they never stop to see. We're so glad God made Grandpas "unrushed" and young like us.
I have always loved this poem. You could between now and fathers day get a picture or pictures of the kids with each grandpa. You could print the poem on paper mate the picture(s) and the poem in a frame. You might event do a hand print of each of the kids. I hope this makes sense. I know your parents will love this. You could even do this for your hubby. There is an ABC's of fatherhood. I did this as a scrapbook for my husband one fathers day. If you want this just send me a message and I will get it tonight and send it to you.
You can get kits to make key chains or picture frames for Father's Day projects.
I think at Walmart they have kits for stepping stones that the kids can put their hand print in and decorate with stones. Or let each of the kids write Dad a note (of those that can write or dictate to you)and tell him what is special to them. Older ones can make him a meal, or dress up and play server with a menu and all that would go with a restaurant, of course under your supervision. If he likes a sport, they could get him something having to do with that-for golf balls that you can personalize (tgw.com) the golf warehouse. I got my husband some with a meaning bible verse on them. A new hat (ball cap). A nice book about what he is interested in. Chicken soup books geared to his tastes. Magazine subscription and buy him the 1st issue. The kids can give him coupons for washing his car if they are old enough. Just a few ideas.

Every year for fathers day, my dad, and hubby and brother in law, get t-shirts made with the kids pics from that year. I get the t-shirts and iron on transfers from wal-mart. I make the one for my dad with all his grand children, my hubby of corse gets our kids on his shirt, and for my brother in law I do his own two kids. I have four kids and the oldest are teens, so they don't partisapate, but the little two have so much fun painting everyones shirts. We always paint their names and ages and than Fathers Day 2007 or what ever the year is. Its a fun project. And the guys wear them all year long. I started this with my first born and have just continued the tradition every year. Hope this helps

Here are a couple of suggestions we use at my preschool. Let the children put their handprints or footprints ( with fabric paint) on a t-shirt, then print their names underneath.
You can use plaster of paris and let them put their hand print or foot print in it. This can be used as a garden stone, or a paper weight Hope these ideas help! M. J
I always have trouble shopping for the men in our family as well. I have discovered an awesome website. It is gifts.com and you can shop by gender, age range, personality. They have some great ideas. It has been a life saver for me, and if you don't find something, it will really get your juices flowing as far as coming up with ideas. Hope this helps!!!
How about a birdhouse or feeder? There are inexpensive kits or you can purchase the premade, plain ones at Hobby Lobby.
When my son was about 18 months, he and I created a hit for Father's Day (useful for other holidays too - like Mother's Day for the grandmas).
Fathers love cookies and peanut butter cookies are a big favorite. I made the cookies and put the balls of dough on the pan. My son was to use his hand to flatten the balls instead of the traditional two crossed fork pattern. I looked over and my son had created his own design. He was running a Matchbox truck (luckily it was clean) over the cookies. They were covered in little tire tracks! It was totally cute.
Men like food, and kids can cook. Also, little jars filled with cookie mix, with ingredients layered to look pretty, are nice; writing the directions for making the cookies is educational, too. A pretty piece of fabric over the lids finishes them off. My daughter also made a sachet of cloves (not feminine) for her grandfather once.
I have in the past help my children make things such as. Getting molding clay (the kind you bake) have the kids roll it out and cut out one hand print and bake them and paint them. Let each child write a specal note to each grand parent.
Make sure to put their name and year on the back. Another special note it to take a photo of them making or painting them give this to each of them in a frame
Good luck
Buy plain light colored T-shirts and help the kids put their handprints on them (maybe footprints for the baby) You will need to wash and dry the T-shirts with no fabric softner and use craft paint mixed whith textile medium (you can find it in the craft dept at wal-mart)of course the paint will not be washable so take necessary precautions. You can then put their names under their hand prints or using stencils paint "Billy and Sally's Grandpa" in the middle of the shirt or "Happy Fathers Day 2008" When I was teaching preschool my co-teacher and I did this for the Fathers Day gift-they turn out so cute.
You can make change holders out of the dish that you would use to put under the bottom of the clay pots. Have your children put thier hand prints in the center and then decorate.. They turned out really cute!
Some of my husband's favorites are pictures of him and our kids in frames that are decorated by the kids. I have used crafting foam and cutouts that are sticky. I have also used poster and finger paints and cut the frame out after. We have gotten a tie with sticky notes on the front that was made of poster that was finger painted. Our sitter did these with our oldest and it was cute. There was a magnet on the back of most of these (sticks to fridges and file cabinets).
Hope this helps.
One year my four kids and I painted t-shirts for dadi and papa's. They said One Hot Dadi ( Pa Pa ) and I had painted a red chili pepper with a cute face on it. Then around it the kiddos put their hand print and wrote their name and the little newborns footprint was added. The shirt was a hit!!!!
Good luck!!!
