So ... TELL me what your favorite store is ... where do you get your best produce for variety and price. Where's your favorite place to buy meats? I'm sure none of you have ever heard of Wegmans (grocery story), but in Northern VA it's THE best place around, by far and I'm soooooo missing it.

So What Happened?

You guys ROCK!!! Once again, mommasource has come to my rescue and has NOT let me down. So, I trekked to McKinney to the Market store .. upon driving up ... it looks soo similar to my beloved Wegmans!!!!! Even the inside sooo similar - I got some great produce and beautiful, great priced meat and friendly service! :-) Triple Yeah!!! While it's ~12 miles from my house .. I will gladly visit again ... I felt like I was home (in NoVA). ;-) Though, the worker did tell me the one here in Allen will be open in February!!!!!! Can you tell I'm excited for that one!!! :-)

~Market Street (Eldorado & Ridge, McKinney) for anything pre-prepared (meats, salads, sandwiches, chicken salad, etc.)

~Super Target (Custer & 121) for bargain brand organic food (my daughter eats mainly no corn syrup and organic)

~Walmart (Custer & 380) for low price

~Kroger (McKinney...can't remember the streets...I think Eldorado and Hardin) to keep my daughter busy if she has to go with me to shop because they have the little carts for the kids

~Whole Foods (Park and Preston, Plano) (if I am already in Plano)

~Dinner Station (Eldorado and Hardin, McKinney) (does that count?) for meal preparation

As you can see, it depends on what I need and also what our budget is at the time.

We love Market Street! The only location in the area right now is in McKinney, but they have plans to add locations in Frisco and Allen.

Sprouts in Plano is also real good for good produce.

We also buy some items out at the McKinney Farmers Market. Very limited supply, but what they do have is very good.

Lastly, if you buy produce often and are interested, we are also part of a vegetable co-op through www.e-farms.net. You place your order online and they deliver it right to your door.

Hands Down - Market Street in McKinney is amazing!!!!!

They are so helpful, food is excellent, and they carry your groceries out to the car (for everyone). They also have the little carts for the kids and the car carts. They also have a great area to eat (pizza, pasta, sandwiches, salads). We will sometimes go for lunch & then shop afterwards. Their pizza is my son's favorite!

Welcome to the area!

Market Street in McKinney is good but Central Market in Plano (George Bush and Coit) is by far the best around! Everything they have is fresh! Good Luck!

It all depends on what I need. I shop at the Target at Custer/121 often. Sprouts is good if you use the products quickly. I only purchse what I need for that day only if I shop at Sprouts.

As for meats, I purchase all meats from Hirsch's at Alma/Parker. Gary and Nancy have been in business about 10 yrs, and have the BEST and HIGHEST quality meats. You get what you pay for. His steaks are the quality of a Del Frisco's or III Forks. The home mmade sausages are fantastic. A few restaurants in the area serve his sausages.

SPROUTS!! I never miss a weds (double ad day) there. Most weeks when I compare their ad to any other store in town they are by far the best prices, and the quality is better. Their meat is good too, and good prices.

SPROUTS on Legacy and Coit is the BEST place for produce. It is always fresh and clean. Thay also have items in bulk -- flours, beans, nuts, etc -- and a good seafood counter. On Wednesdays they over "double ads", meaning that they honor the sale prices for the past week and the week to come. Great!!!!!
