but my all-time favorite is simply any clear, cold river .....& no amenities, especially phone service! We have a spot on the Black River (in MO) that we've been using as a family for the past 40+ years. It is simply breathtakingly beautiful & peaceful. Have to have 4wheel drive or a boat to access it....& it's well worth the effort! We use the gravel bar across from a wall of bluffs, with a spring at the base of it....feeding into the river. The spring is where we stash our melons! Wish I was there right now.....
