I was born and raised in Mansfield Ohio, which is south and east of Findlay by about an hour :) We did play against them though at one of the schools I went to.
I couldn't tell you what their downtown is like anymore ... haven't been there in YEARS. But overall it and my hometown are pretty similar ... big enough to have some privacy ... small enough to have neighbors who look out for you and care about you. I'm sure it also has all the ammenities for shopping wise that you would want/need (target, walmart, a mall). There's a state park outside of Findlay as well as larger cities like Clevelend and Toledo not far.
If it's somewhere you are really serious about possibly moving there I'd take a weekend, make the couple of hours drive and visit the place. See what it's got that you might like. Talk to folx see what they have to say about the schools and so forth.
Be sure to do your research about job availability and so forth as well. The general area around that part of Ohio is pretty depressed with so much manufacturing and other jobs heading overseas.
