My daughter has red bumps here and there on her body. At the center it looks as if she was bitten but they are not mosquito bites. My husband's aunt keeps her during the day and they have a dog. Could they be flea bites? I don't want to rush to the dr. b/c she is not fussing with them but I don't want it to turn into something worse. They started multiplying yesterday and I'm on the verge of calling the dr.
Well, Payton went to the doctor today and it turns out she has a viral infection under her skin. The bumps will go away on their own but it could take a few months until they completely go away. That's fine with me b/c she is not messing with them at all so it's obviously not bothering her. It is contagious though so my husband and I may break out in the same thing. He didn't give us anything in regards to treatment but if they get swollen or more red then we are to take her back and he will give her something for it. Thank you all for your concern and for taking the time to give me your input.
Could also be bed bug bites. You might want to investigate the bed at the aunts house. They are becoming more and more popular unfortunately.

If they start to multiply, I would say that you go to the doctor. My 7year old had a few like that and my doctor said that there are bugs bites. She plays outside a lot and the grass and dirt have all kinds of little creatures that bite.
Do they itch? We bought some Benadryl cream and put on the bites. Now she is fine.
By multiplying, do you mean that you noticed more after she had spent more time at her aunt's? Or do you thing more appeared after your daughter was at home? If the marks increased without additional exposure to the aunt's home, then most likely they aren't fleas. Are the marks only on her legs and lower part of her body, or are they found on other parts of her body?
When we first moved into our house, there was a horrible flea problem. The previous owners had 6 Siberian huskies, and the house was completely infested. When we stood still, we could actually see fleas jumping onto our legs. It took an exterminator a good while to get rid of the problem, but in the meantime, my husband and I were absolutely flea-bitten! Our ankles and lower legs were masses of tiny, itchy red dots. The itching was horrible! Kids are lower to the floor and tend to sit or lie on floors, so it's possible that if there are fleas in the house, she could be bit in other places, but mostly, you'd expect flea bites to be on the lower part of the body. Fleas can jump very high, but they have no wings.

take her to the dr. Flea bites can be dangerous, especially for young kids. There is a saliva in the fleas that could cause an allergic reaction. Trust your instincts. It may be something else but it does sound like fleas.

If they are "multiplying" I don't think they would be flea bites. Show them to the aunt & see what she says. Also, I think flea bites would be itchy.
Most owners of pets take the defensive & say...of course my pet does not have fleas, when usually the pet could in fact have fleas. There is no way to reason with someone who says this, even if there house is loaded with tons of fleas. If it looks like a flea bite to you, it most likely is. Take your daughter to the doctor. Preventatives if you have to let your daughter go to the aunt's home are: have your daughter drink green tea & /or give her a rinse in green tea in the tub with a few tea bags (fleas hate the taste), Avon's Skin So Soft (it works great for a bug/insect repellent & for walks in woods against fleas & ticks). Also changing & washing clothes immediately, including you own, as soon as you get home are preventatives to make sure your home does not get fleas as well. Hope this helps..
It sounds like it could be chicken pox. Has your daughter had her vaccination (varicella) yet? She should have had it at 15-18 months but if she did not, it could be chicken pox. And while the other post indicates that "we had chicken pox when we were kids and it was no big deal" it can be pretty miserable for your little girl.
Chicken pox are itchy and painful. I had them when I was five (long before they had a vaccine) and I was miserable - itchy, sore throat, sick, achy body, painful - for two weeks over Christmas. My sisters and I were so sick that we didn't even play with our toys. We just lumbered out of bed, huddled on the floor, my parents unwrapped our gifts, and we went back to bed. The pictures are great too! All of us with red bumps all over the place. Quite unforgettable!
If it is chicken pox your doctor will be able to help you with the symptoms. The other thing to keep in mind is if it is chicken pox you will be housebound. Chicken pox are highly contagious so no visits to the park or the playground or pool or anywhere else kids gather.
My son (20 months) got chicken pox (his father got shingles and infected him). Luckily he already had his shot but the full effect of immunity was not established (he was exposed two weeks after his shot). But at least the chicken pox were minor - just twelve on his legs and feet. He was very itchy - I numbed the area with baby orajel. And he has scars from the chicken pox. I still have chicken pox scars from when I had it and that was 36 years ago!
It sounds to me like possibly they could be chicken pox. Only because you said the center of the bump is different and they are multiplying. I would take her to the doctor and see what they say. If it is don't worry we got it when we were kids and we're all fine.
