are you opposed to fake flowers? totally easier, cheaper, and nicer to keep! :D

instructions can be found online for how to make flower bouquets, or just buy some and tie with a ribbon, whatever you like!

Cheap Flowers...and beautiful. Go to the Minneapolis Farmer's Market. There is a man down there every day (Jim Bush), and he buys wholesale flowers from all over the world. He gets a huge shipment every Tuesday, and he does bridal bouquets and the lot ALL THE time for about 1/4 of what the local florists charge. They do great work right at the stand at the Farmer's Market, or if you have a talented friend you can even just buy the flowers and do them yourself. He might be listed in the yellow pages as he now has a shop just north of downtown MPLS off of 35 if I remember right. He can tell you what's in season or what is cheapest...otherwise Costco also has GREAt flowers and bouquets if you have a talented friend or family member.

Hi,

I am a florist and I now work out of my home. I assume you want to save money? First make sure you pick flowers that are in season and readily available in your area. You can get just about any flower in any color any time of year, but you will PAY for it. Come up with a realistic budget and stick with it. Try looking at Craigslist.com under the creative or event services sections to find your florist, also great place to find music/dj, photographers and bakers. Just make sure you interview (in a public place first time) and contact their references. Grocery stores often also have talented designers. Your sister may also want to consider having boutinere's for the groom and best man (they are not expensive) and maybe coursages and boutineres for the parents. Are there going to be any arrangements at the wedding location or reception, cake flowers, toss bouquet? Most floral shops do free consultations so I would recommend taking advantage! Good Luck and Congrats. If you have more questions send me a private message. M.

Might sound silly, but check out your local grocery stores floral section. My best friend is the floral manager of our local grocery store and she has done a number of weddings and they were BEAUTIFUL!! Just because they work in a grocery store doesn't mean they aren't talented designers. I know that she was much cheaper than any florist in our town....

Hi B.,
For my wedding which was in August, we actually when to out local Sam's Club (Costco in other places) and bought a couple bouquet's of flowers that matched my colors and we made out own bouquet's for the bridesmaids. They actually turned out really pretty! To have 5 bridesmaid's bouquet's it cost about $25.00, so what you need would be pretty inexpensive.

Hi B.:
You don't say what city you are in, however if you are in the Fox Valley Wisconsin, my daughter got her flowers at Charles the Florist in downtown Appleton. Her wedding was 3 yrs ago, the flowers were beautiful and she said it was the best price she could find.
Congratulations to your sister. I hope this helps.

I used Forever in Bloom in Vadnais Heights. A woman does it out of her home. You can google it for her phone #. I don't believe she has a website. I spent about $500 for all of my flowers which included a bridal, 4 bridsmaids, and 1 flower girl bouquet, and close to 12 or so corsages for the boys, parents and grandparents. (That was 6 years ago though, so prices have probably gone up a little bit since then)

I also have a friend from school who has her own flower business and does BEAUTIFUL work! Her name is Jackie Just and she owns Just bloomed. Check out her websire at www.just-bloomed.com.

I made my own bouquet. It was from a grocery store florist and it turned out absolutely beautiful. (I can email you a picture if you like). All I had to do was cut the stems to one length, wrap the whole thing with a few rubber bands, and then wrap a wide wire ribbon around the whole bottom and pin it closed. Of course, it was quite inexpensive. :)

Hi B.,

Beth at Hy-Vee Floral located at 3235 Oakland Rd NE
(off of Center Point Rd.)does an EXCELLENT job. She did my wedding and my Dad's funeral just beautifully. She has done several of my friend's weddings as well and they are not very expensive either, compared to Pierson's, Newports, or any of the so-called "professional" floral shops in town.
Give Beth a call. ###-###-####.

Good luck! A.

When I got married (2 years ago) we got all of our flowers from the local Piggly Wiggly (a grocery store). They were less expensive than a florist BY FAR and absolutely beautiful. I would definitely recommend looking into grocery store floral departments.
