Thank you to all the wonderful people who responded to my question about St. John Hospital, I greatly appreciate it and so will my sister-in-law. I'm wondering if you could recommend an OB/GYN at that hospital? Thank you so much.

Dr. Nathan Wagstaff is a young, cool, very sensitive guy. You'd love him! His office is right in the SJH Professional Bldg.

I see Dr. Thomas Hartzell from St. John OB/GYN Associates. They have two offices: one on 12 Mile in St. Clair Shores and one on Romeo Plank in Macomb Township.

I've been going to Dr. Hartzell now for over 11 years and LOVE him! I have 2 children (ages 3 and 4.5) and both were high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Hartzell took such great care of me, I literally trusted him with my babies' lives. If there was every a point in my pregnancy when he felt I needed to see a high-risk doctor, he would send me to the specialist Dr. Brian Mason (located at St John Detroit.) Dr. Hartzell is very professional (friendly, but very serious), but since I've been going to him for so long, we have a great relationship and always end up cracking jokes together.

My second choice out of that office would be a female, Ann McReynolds. Since there are several doctors out of that office I've seen from time to time (if I couldn't get in to see Hartzell), I've really gotten to know most of them and really really like Dr. McReynolds second best! One of the differences between Hartzell and McReynolds is, McReynolds will get on you about how much weight you gain during pregnancy, and Hartzell will not! LOL Good luck to your sister in law! I would HIGHLY Dr. Brian Mason. He works out of Prof Bldg 1 at St. Johns Main and works specifically with high risk pregnancies. He is the best! Great attitude and very very personable. There are four doctors in the practice and the only one I WOULDN'T recommend is Dr. Dembrowski. He's the head of high risk pediatrics at St. Johns, so he's VERY qualified to be sure, but he has zero personality.

Dr. Mason came in and out so often during my stay that I had a hard time believing he was still seeing other patients in the office and joked with him about it. LOL Each time he visited me he also checked in on my little one, even though it was technically the pediatrians job to do follow up with the baby. He also specifically did the circumcision on both of my boys (NOT a resident) and did a great job there too.

His office number is ###-###-####.

I go to Eastside Gynecology. The have about 6-8 doctors so it would depend if she is looking to see the same one all the time or is open to seeing different ones because any of them could be on call for the delivery. They also have a midwife on staff and great nurses. I have liked all the doctors there.

I also go to Eastside OB/GYN in Roseville (http://www.eastsidegynob.com/locations.html) and I love it there. I was lucky and Dr. Mahoney delivered both of my kids and he was amazing. Everyone there is great!

If your sister-in-law has a high-risk pregnancy then I recommend Dr. Brian Mason, who is on staff St. John Detroit. He is highly trained, has excellent bedside manners (good sense of humor and no hint of arrogance) and no question is too "stupid." He will visit often during the active phase of labor (to check on your labor progress) so he isn't the type to come in the last min. to perform the delivery. I had 2 births with him Aug 2003 (during the blackout week) and Jan 2008.

Same as Debbie.... I see Dr. Thomas Hartzell from St. John OB/GYN Associates. He is wonderful. I delivered twins, naturally, with him. They were 2 and a half hours apart. He sat with me the whole time and encouraged me and never suggested c-section just to get it over with. I can't say enough wonderful things about him.
