Furniture, Esp. Asian Contemporary??

I'm looking for a variety of furniture for my new house--couch, dining table, chests of drawers, desk, etc. I'm going from one furniture store to another, barely finding anything I like. I prefer Asian-inspired contemporary. Can anyone suggest good furniture stores? I need more than I can find just in Bombay company & Pier 1. I am also open to used furniture, if anyone has pictures of things they'd like to sell.

What can I do next?

You might try World Market. I've seen some Asian-inspired furniture there at great prices. For used furniture, I like to go to the Love Field Antique Mall on Cedar Springs at Mockingbird, across from Love Field. It will take you at least a couple of hours to go throught the entire place, but you may find just what you're looking for. I also like to frequent a resale store on Garland Road across from the Arboretum. I think it's called Two Friends Resale. They have a warehouse in the back that is like shopping at a huge garage sale. You never know what you'll find there.

Target have a great line right now, called World bazaar. Go soon though, as they only sell the furniture and stuff for a few weeks. Its really good.

try RoomandBoard.com-they have a ton of asian contemp. Unfortunately, there are no stores in Texas but we have had great success ordering online and having the items delivered in a timely fashion with no damage.

Michelle,
There is a new "warehouse type" furniture store that sells everything 30% above cost, they have tons of Asian inspired pieces as well as soft seating, bedroom sets etc.... This is not heirloom type stuff but great filler pieces (same if not better quality than Pier 1 or Bombay). Diane is the owner, Homemart Furniture (1445 West Beltline, Carrolton 75006, 800-670-8941), it's on Beltline Road, just west of I35. I'm a designer and totally think it's worth a look. They have great hours 7 days a week.

Have you tried World Market? Its a lot less expensive than Bombay and Pier 1.

I noticed you were a college professor, and I was curious. Currently I am a sales manager with my MBA. In 7-10 years, I would like to get out of the corporate world and be a college professor. I have no idea of how I am going to make this move.

I was curious about your education level, Masters or doctorate? What you teach? How did you get started?

I would want to teach business, but I really don't know if I would want to get my PHD. Do you think I would have to start at a community college?

Okay I am somewhat clueless, but any advice you have would be most appreciated. I know this is years away but thinking about things like this keep me going!! Also if there are things I can do now to make it easier later on, its worth looking into. Thanks in advance.

I've have had trouble finding good furniture stores, too. My husband and I have been all over Garland, Plano, and N. Dallas the past several weekends. Furniture Depot Warehouse in Garland (First & Main) has some pretty solid wood stuff at reasonable prices. Most of it is pretty traditional, but I saw some tables in Asian style. You Might even check Garden Ridge, World Market, and Ikea for more modern stuff if you haven't already. Baker's (on Main) has beautitul stuff but they are really high.

Mainly traditional and some contemporary Asian (Chinese influenced) furniture can be found at -

Rosewood Fine Furniture
751 S Central Expy, Richardson, TX 75080
(North of Spring Valley off of 75)
###-###-####

Excellent quality for the price. BTW, it's ALWAYS 70% off. :) We bought our contemporary bedroom furniture, dining set and a traditional (Japanese) square coffee table from there a couple years ago. It's not your typical store. Try to work in the shipping into the price ;)
