What are your thoughts on having a garage sale over the 4th of July weekend? Yay or nay?

My garage sale is going to be mostly baby stuff (clothing and toys) that my daughters have outgrown. I have everything priced and my signs are made I just now need to decide on the dates!

Thank you!

What can I do next?

4th of July is during the week. I think most people will have a fairly normal weekend. I'd just go for it. If not many people show up, you always have the next weekend.

You actually might get more traffic. People tend to take off the day after since it is a Friday, to make a longer weekend. Plus, for most places, that Friday is payday.

I was just thinking about this today when I was out running an errand and thinking of ALL the stuff in my garage that I need to get rid of!!

I think I'll be having one. I need to check our weather. If it's too hot and sticky, I won't. However, I did have one 2 years ago on the 4th of July and almost sold EVERYTHING I had! i made a few hundred dollars!!!

Don't put the dates on your signs!! You leave that off so you can re-use them!! Just put the time on there!!

Good luck!

I had one of the best yard sales ever over a fourth of July weekend. People were driving/walking by our house going to the parade (I live in a small town) and they stopped before and after.
I would go for it and like Bug said you can always do it the next weekend as well.
good luck

We had a neighborhood one last year, I didn't plan to participate. Boy, was I ever regretting it the day of, there were tons of people! I say go for it, leave dates off your signs and reuse them, the following weekend if need be, as Bug said.

It is never a bad time to have a garage sale in my opinion. On that weekend a lot of traffic will be everywhere so you should sell a lot!

Not here where I live.. You will hear crickets..

There are so many fun free things to do on 4th of July . Since it is close to a weekend, people will be traveling which means they will have to cart it ll home.
