My son has been invited to a party for twin boys turning 5. I am curious about the gift ettiquite. Should I buy them each something different...running the risk that one is unhappy...or do I buy them the same thing. Or can I buy them one large gift to share. I was hoping some moms of twings could help me out. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We have twins and have had both done - same gift, different gifts, etc. I will say that this year our daughters turned 6 and each got a WebKinz...different animals, same type toy, and they were thrilled! They got the same WebKinz when they turned 5 and we had to write their initial on the tag....so different worked for us!

I have twins that just turned three and they were fine with getting individual gifts (that wasn't always the case!). I would say talk to the mom for ideas and get them each something they are individually interested in - one may like dinosaurs and the other bugs - or one bigger thing to share. They are probably developing some specific interests individually by now. Chances are you will be fine either way -It's the thought that counts, right?! Good luck - You're sweet to worry about it!

Well, I guess all kids are different. I have 2 sets of twins and while we would never dream of trying to tell a guest what to bring, we do try to drill into the heads of my family that they MUST give identical or at least very similar gifts. I don't care what the gift is, I just need it to be the same, so that we don't have all out war and/or one unhappy crying child at bedtime because the other child has the "best" one. If grandma gives my twins two stuffed animals, it never fails that one wants what the other has, and the other wants what she has...So I would recommend buying two gifts, not one, and buy something less expensive so that you can buy two. I like the idea of calling the parent for ideas; I always do that for any child I buy for. But fyi one of the favorite gift items that my children give or receive is the Crayola magic markers and/or paints that only color on specially treated paper along with the special paper. they have it in Diego coloring books. It's great for trips and entertaining the kids and litle supervision is needed.

I am the mom of twin boys as well, and I would much rather a party guest bring two less expensive gifts than one more expensive. All of the other moms that have responded so far can testify that two children opening the same gift and then having to actually share it on their special day can make for big time drama! LOL

I have identical twin boys who are almost 4 1/2. I would definitely recommend getting them separate gifts. Ask mom (or dad) what kinds of things each boy likes. I would not get them the same thing, perhaps something similar instead. My boys are very into Thomas the Tank Engine so anything related to Thomas is a winner for them!
