Girl Scout Kaper Chart

Hi C.! I used to be a girl scout leader. I miss it! My daughter is 14 yrs. and she doesn't want to be in cadets. I would be happy to help you with ideas. Here are some websites:

One of the best places for rescourses for leaders is on http://groups.yahoo.com/allgirlscouts. They have downloads up the wazo of pretty much everything any leader may need from kaper charts to patch check off list and more!! The ladies there are alot like the woman we all talk to here. Very friendly and eager to help! Hope that helps

We're a new Brownie troop this year too! I wanted to add to the previous posts that we made our Kaper chart very similar to the link posted above, using the paper doll pieces from the Making Friends website http://www.makingfriends.com/friends/f_scouts.htm and the girls had a blast choosing their hair, coloring their clothes and uniform and putting it together. I "laminated" them by putting them between pieces of clear contact paper and then cut them out. The one comment I would have is that it's not easily portable since it's on this big posterboard. If I could do it again, I would still do the dolls in paper but I would do the chart on a large piece of felt or something similar, glue the pockets on and roll the whole thing up without worrying about cracking it in half! I could email you a picture of our troops chart if you want to see it.

A kaper can be any style you want really. It can be a paper plate with a few different jobs listed...attendance, dues, pledge & gs promise, snack, clean up, etc. As far as the girls names, I suggest putting them on clothes pins and then you can attach them to a job. We had a kaper chart and we just had a list of jobs on a poster board and rotated the names each week. I hope that helps. Sorry I don't have a picture.

I don't have a picture of mine, but here is a discription.
We took a large piece of tagboard and wrote the jobs (we have 26 girls, so we have a lot so if you need ideas, let me know). We then took velcro and attached the loop part to the board. We laminated cut up pices of construction paper with the name of one girl on each piece. We attached the hook part of the velcro on each piece. THen we just velcro the naes on their job for the meeting. That way we can change the job and make changes in case one of our girls doesn't make it to the meeting. Just remember to take the pieces off at the end of the meeting and put them in a bag so they don't get lost.

I have been a girl scout leader for quite some time now and made a very HANDY caper chart when my oldest daughter was a brownie. I wish I had a picture, but I don't. Sorry... I will do my best to describe it to you.

We took a piece of metal (2'x1') and covered it with felt (green for scouts), typed their names on a slip of paper, laminated them and attached a piece of velcro to the backs. THis made it easy to "stick" their names on the jobs for the week.

THen we took the "chart" typed the "jobs" on a slip of paper, laminated them, and attached them with hot glue to the left side of the felt covered chart. Every week we would change the girls jobs by taking their names off the duty they had that week and move their name tags. I also gave the girls a form that I designed for them that showed their job for that week and had them write thier duty on it. (I tried to encourage the girls to give the form to moms/dads when they came to get the girls).
