Hi everyone. I am looking for a good place to get professional pictures done without spending an arm and a leg. I don't mind even if it is a wal-mart, jcpenney, or a real professional. I am looking for quality and a good price.

I HIGHLY recommend JCPenney on Gratiot next to Sam's club (13 mile area). I would ask for Sheila. She has done the last 3 photo sessions for my kids individually and as a family. She is fantastic! She gives me about 20+ poses to choose from. they are so good that it is actually hard to choose.

You can get really good coupons for them in parenting magazines, on the JCPenney website, and elsewhere. The coupons give you photo sheets at $3.99 each (unlimited, no minimum purchase) You always get a free 8X10 with the coupon. If you join their portrait club (which is for 2 years and can be used for any and all members of your family) you get free smiles by wire (Internet photo sharing), free 8X10, and a couple of other freebies.

I would recommend making an appointment for a weekday when they are less busy. They have a play area in the studio that includes a TV with kid friendly video (like Sesame Street or Winn Dixie). It's great for sibling who are waiting for their other sibling to be photographed, or just in general while you wait for your turn (if you have to wait at all).

I have used and have a variety of friends who have also used "Portrait Innovations". They are located in Lakeside circle which I think is closest to you.

http://www.portraitinnovations.com/index.html is new to the Michigan area. It offers pretty great prices, plus the pictures are digital and you can get them back within an hour. They take LOTS and LOTS of pictures so you have a variety of different options.

No sitting fees. Tons of backgrounds to choose from and when I went with a family w/ 6 kids they even had 2 photographers working with the family. One to take the pictures and one to get kids to smile, arrange kids, etc. Also got other family pictures there and were VERY impressed. Highly recommend.

Although we haven't used their services, I have friends who have had really good luck with Kiddie Kandids at Babies 'R' Us on Hall Road and M-53. For a more expensive, but wonderful professional photographer, check out www.parkerphotographic.com.

I highly recommend JCPenny to get affordable, nice pictures. They aren't as nice as the pictures I get once a year with a professional photographer---but I pay a fortune for these.

If you get a coupon (either from the Sunday newspaper or a parenting magazine avaliable free at Babiesrus), you only pay $7.99 a package or $3.99/sheet. Great value!

Good luck.

Hi H.,
I always used My Photographer at Lakeside Mall with good results. I've also used Patrick Photography on Mound across from St.Anne Church & school. And the best one was Stewart in St. Clair Shores between 10 & 11 Mile on Harper.

I've used My Photographer at Lakeside and my SIL has used them at Oakland mall. Both were pretty good. I think a little pricey and the results completely depend on who you get as the photographer. You have to wait a few weeks to get your pictures. The last few times I've needed pictures, I've gone to Kiddie Kandids at Babies R Us. They've been fantastic. Very professional and lots of tricks to get the kiddos to smile. You also get the pictures the same day. One drawback is that you have to go into BRU, and I can't leave without buying something else!

I love Kiddie Kandids inside of Babies R Us. They've done all of my son's pics along with our family picture and have done a wonderful job. They're definitely more pricey then Sears, Penny's, or Wal-Mart but they are so worth it! I'm always hearing, "Oh my gosh, where did you have those taken?"
They do appointments or walk-in and you get your pictures in about 10 minutes...printed to take home!

I absolutely love KiddieKandids. They are in the BabiesRUs by Lakeside. I have 2 boys: 3 1/2 & 2 and they take the best pictures. I've been to Target, Sears, JCPenny, etc. KiddieKandids are the only ones that I have good luck with. Plus they give you the picture cd with a package and they aren't that expensive.
