I am starting my search for a good VPK program in Pinellas Park or nearby. I am a strong beliver in a play-based learning versus sitting at a desk and trying to memorize at this early age. Does anyone know of any good play-based VPK program? I am also curious if anyone had experience with Gingerbread school and what their VPK program is like. Thank you in advance.

Hello T.,
I have worked in Pre-schools in Pinellas County for the last 10 years.I currently run a licensed daycare out of my home. After reading your email I personally don't feel that a Gingerbread environment would be best for you and your child.Just a little advice from someone who knows too much about the preschool world...you never want to put your child in a franchise school.
Some local schools that offer amazing programs(not sure how far you want to travel) but in the Seminole area there is Oakhurst Learning center(which is the best in Pinellas County).
If you want I could send you a list of local schools that are Nationally accredited and spoke very highly of throughout the community. Are you looking for a religious school,or does it not matter?

I don't have any reccomendations for a VPK program in your area (my son goes to Faith Presbytrian in Seminole). However, I have had several mothers say they had bad experieinces with Gingerbread school. So I can say that I would not send my child there. Hope this was helpful. Good luck!!

I live in Pinellas Park also and have a 5 yr. old son, 2yr. old and 6mo. old daughters. I worked at the Gingerbread school in Seminole about two years ago and really liked it. The facility is clean the staff is great with the children and the curriculum is completely play based. Let me know if you would like any more info.

My son went to VPK at Child Life on 54th Ave last year. He really liked it. He played with Legos a lot (he does at home too - that's his favorite thing to do) but they taught counting and colors and "sets" with the Legos or whatever else he'd play with. I'm enrolling my daughter there next year.
