If they couldn't see the break in an X-Ray no wonder the docs did not catch it. I never heard of anyone getting an MRI for a break after the cast came off. When I had my cast off the doctor simply x-rayed my wrist to make sure the bone healed.
This is an update. The MRI revealed that the fractured ankle is not healed. Thank goodness my daughter took him to a pediatric hospital. Those Army doctors should not be working on children!
Well they said the x ray lookd good when they took the cast off. But he screamed in pain and fell to the floor when they had him try to walk. The Army docs said it was probably fear. After 2 more weeks of him not walking and being on pain my daughter demanded an MRI be ordered at the children's hospital. So that tells me when it cones to your kids, see a specialist. Not the Army docs

ETA: P., they did an XRAY...it does NOT show the level of detail that an MRI - is a VERY DETAILED, LAYERED image. It will catch things an XRAY does not...DO NOT BLAME the Army Doctors. They did their due diligence by taking an XRAY prior to the cast removal.
Your first post about this tells you that MANY stated it could be FEAR.
P.,
It's not the Army's fault. They are doctor's and if they are at the Army Hospital, they have gone through ALL of the same training a doctor "on the economy" has gone through.
Please don't blame the military or the Army Doctor's for your grandson's bones not healing in a timely manner. They may want to do further testing to see if there is a bone problem, as the doctor's did what they could do.
Your grandson could have EASILY re-broke the ankle when he got out of the cast. you NEVER know...don't blame the military for this.
Tyler, my husband, was in the Air Force. We had Air Force and Army doctor's for all of our kids lives. How is this their fault? They took an xray prior to removing the cast, correct? They didn't see a problem so they removed the cast.
An MRI was conducted and found not it was not fully healed. There is a big difference between an xray and an MRI.
I'm with Wild Woman. Don't blame the "Army Doctor's" on this.
Did you take him back to the army doctor and ask for an MRI? If not how do you know he wouldn't have reached the same conclusion as the civilian doctor?
So glad you found answers! I agree that 2 years old seems too young to be seen by anyone but a pediatrician for a major injury like that, army doctors or otherwise.
