My daughter attencded Dobbs Pre-School at Harlem & Montrose for 3 years, and we loved it! The teachers at Dobbs are very nice, and the children are well cared for. We went through 3 schools bfore finally finding Dobbs. Check them out - they are wonderful. 7131 W Pensacola Ave Norridge, IL 60706 ###-###-####

Do NOT by any means go to Fairyland Preschool on Milwaukeee & Montrose - horrible horrible school. they don't care about the kids at all and the noise level is deafening. No playground, just a little gravel filled space off the alley. My daughter was sick the entire time she went there.

Same for the Mosaic Childcare center at Addison/Laramie. HORRIBLE school, they never fed by daughter lunch (I used to pick her up after lunch and she was always starving). Once went to pick her up unexpectedly and they had her pinned in her seat against the wall with a table shoved up to keep her in place (said they didn't know how that happened). Also, one time I was there and the owner didn't know there were any parents in the school & she started screaming & threatening a little boy until he cried. We never went back.

I can tell you where NOT to go....Jolly Fun House (Addison and Oriole). High staff turnover, expensive, and the place smells like a barn most days.

And when your child gets older, don't even consider sending them to JFH Educational Academy. Awful, awful place w/lousy teachers. The people that own it are the same ones that own Jolly Fun House, and they are GREEDY!!! All they care about is money, not kids.

You might want to check out the Norridge Park District for preschool.

I had the complete opposite experience from Denise X. I thought Norridge Day Care was awful, but had a very good experience with Jolly Fun and JFH.
My son attended Jolly Fun for 3 years and learned so much. He spent one year at JFH in kindergarten which was full time and again was reading and writing beyond what other kids where doing at other schools at his age.
By the time we transferred him to a Park Ridge district school which had a 10/10 great schools rating, he was learning in reading class what he had already learned in kinder at JFH. This was actually a good refresher for him. He is now in fourth grade and continues to do really well.
Parents from JFH told me several stories of kids that had gone on to different schools and where in gifted programs thanks to the academics taught at Jolly Fun & JFH.
I also thought the owners of both schools - Bob & Gigi Bowen were really nice people. Gigi attended Jolly Fun as a child and they are very dedicated to the student's curriculum and staff.
As for the teachers, I had really good experiences and some not so great. Unfortunately, you will see that just about anywhere. I can honestly say my son's kindergarten teacher was a snob and a *****, but nonetheless, he had a good experience. I was happy to hear that was her first and last year there.

You might want to check out www.naeyc.org. This is the website for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. It is an accreditation body that has very stringent standards and only about 10% of daycare centers/preschools nationwide meet their criteria. You can click on 'Search by ZIP', enter 60634, and find out which preschools near you are NAEYC honored.
