Does anyone have a good hand sanitizer for kids? I do daycare and am having a baby any day now. Im looking for a hand sanitizer that is either natural or doesnt use alcohol. I have a lot of young kids so I dont want to worry about them putting their hands in their mouth. I just want something they can use before they enter the house. I have them wash their hands throughout the day but want to curb the germs before they enter, especially with cold/flu season coming.

What can I do next?

Melaleuca's Clear Defense is a wonderful product. If you have a daycare, you'd be interested in their whole line of Ecosense cleaning products as well. I'd be happy to tell you more about it. All their products are naturally-derived and safe. J. Bauman

Unless they drink the bottle the alcohol content in the santizer wont hurt them just from putting there hands in their mouth (told this by a NICU nurse, when my son was botn) but I did want to find some good safe ones to have in the diaper bag, etc...Toys R Us has a spray one that doesn't contain anything harmful, says its natural, called Hands 2 Go. There a few foaming ones out there also. Congrats on the baby!

B., I suggest having them wash their hands with soap/water as soon as they get in the house. You can make this a new routine and have their parents help them wash their hands as part of their drop off. Soap and water is always better than hand sanitizer (much harsher on their hands/skin). If you do go the sanitizer route, I suggest using the foam type and install a wall dispenser right by your door (many places have them these days)and have the parents and their kids clean their hands when they walk in and before they leave.

Hi B.--
I really like Burt's Bees hand sanitizer, it's in a 2-oz. spray. Although it's 100% natural with Aloe and Witch Hazel, it does have 62% ethyl alcohol--for killing germs. My 10 month old somethimes puts his hands in his mouth, makes a face...but then learns not to do it again. He is not injesting it, it just tastes a little bitter! It is very soft on the skin and smells fresh and clean. I got it online at Diapers.com. You can read more info on it at their website. I ordered $49.00 of items and got free shipping! Enter my code at the shoppping cart page: CARX9579, and you should get $10 off your first order over $49.00. (They have a referral program) Hope this helps! Carrie

I would recommend the foam or the lotion types. The local hospital to me uses it. I think it is sold at walgreens. I would also ask bath and body, they might have one that they recommend. If those kinds are too expensive, you can find the 'kid friendly' kind at walmart or target.

I just heard of one, by CleanWell. I don't know much about it, haven't tried it, but it's sposed to be alcohol free/kid friendly. I think Target is supposed to carry it, but I haven't had a chance to look for it yet.

I know that "Method" brand has some pretty good natural products. These are available at Target also. I know I've seen some other brands there as well, but I've used other Method brand products in the past and I've been pretty happy with them. They tend to be a bit more expensive though!
