Has anyone been to a Beaches Resort in Jamica? There are three different ones. I was about to book last night when I decided to read the reviews and they were mixed.. some not too favorable so now I don't know if I want to go...

I'd love to know if any of you have gone and what your experience was.

the ocean at Jamaica is especially beautiful blue. but, if you leave your "compound" be prepared for a local to try to sell you drugs. I've been there twice and it happened twice and believe me, I look the farthest thing from someone who would do drugs....they are very bold. it seems like a year or so ago there was a young woman that was never found there...personally, I would never go back. of course, if money is the issue, then just don't leave the compound. also, I've always wanted to go to turks & caicos...the reviews are always amazing...it's one of the few places in the carribean that I haven't been but I've always wanted to go. have a fabulous vacation!!!

My coworker just went to Sandals in Jamaica and loved it. They loved it so much, they booked their next trip before they left to return home! Sounds like she had great service, lots of fun activities, and a beautiful beach/view.

We went to a Sandals in Ocho Rios. It was fabulous! You never have to leave the resort, but if you do then I would recommend one of the tourist excursions (group tours) or hopping to the other Sandals resorts on the island....I think there's 3 and it's all included in the price. You never even have to take your wallet out the entire time you're there. Very relaxing, but a lot to do if you want...it's up to you.

Have fun!

We went to the Sandals resort in Ocho Rios which is the same people as Beaches and overall, it was really nice. The people there on the resort were great, just don't get off the compound! The staff is super friendly and accomdating. The beach was great and if you play golf the course was first rate, but like I said before, I wouldn't get off the resort. People are so poverty stricken there and they will try to sell you everything.

We went to the Atlantis resort 2 years ago and if you've never been, it is awesome if you are looking for something in the Carribean and something that's kid friendly too. Loved it!

We went to Beaches Boscobel 2 1/2 years ago. My boys were 22 months and 4 years old. We went with my dh's family, so there was also a 7 year old and a 10 year old. Everyone had a blast!! There was plenty to do for all the age groups. My little ones LOVED the Elmo theme, and the older girls got to snorkle and other activities for older kids. They had a cool "family" pool with a great slide and a big baby pool (which we only used once) It is a very child-oriented society, so the childcare was exceptional. My older son has some autistic-like traits, so we hired a "nanny" to follow him in some of the activities that took them out of the childcare area (they only do this for 2-or is it 3? and up. My dh and I were able to watch them a couple of times without them knowing and the were very patient with him!! Oh yeah, the food was pretty good, with a special buffet for the kids.

Anyway, it is a great place for families. The only thing we would do different is go to the one that is closer to the airport (I think it's Negril). That one is supposed to be nice without the 1 1/2 bus ride to/from the airport. That being said, the ride wasn't near as bad as we anticipated and they were all very accomadating. We felt VERY safe at the resort, and didn't feel the need to leave with all to do on the grounds.

My husband and I went to the Sandles resort in Jamaica for our honeymoon. We loved that also. It was a little more classy with more upscale food, but that makes sense since it's for couples only!! Did I mention all the drinks are included at both resorts? I LOVED all the fruity "adult" drinks :)

Let me know if you have any specific questions!!

I second Sandals! We loved it in Ocho Rios! We have been to Jamaica twice and we enjoyed Sandals much more. The first resort(Ciboney in Ocho Rios); although they had great service and was a nice resort, didn't have as much going on. We had to pay for excursions all over the island. Although we loved our stay at Ciboney, we felt like we spent a lot of vacation driving all over the island. At Sandals we had a terrific time right on the resort. The food was good (and at many all inclusives it's not great). And things like snorkeling, scuba diving and glass bottom boats were included in the all inclusive (usually scuba and snorkeling costs extra). While we were at Sandals they had to shut down the beaches because of a hurricane. We still had a great day...the game room entertained us quite a bit and the resort worked extra hard to have special inside activities. We didn't even feel like we "missed" a day of vacation.

We went to Couples in Negril last year and it was wonderful- not one complaint! I just called this week to book another trip there, however prices have gone up over 1000 dollars. Due to the fact that there are no more charter flights there. So, this year we are going to a beautiful resort in the Riviera Maya in Mexico. (Both resorts are adults only) We are staying one day longer than last year and the price is about 600.00 less than we paid for jamaica last year. Almost 1500.00 less than the Jamaica trip this year. Yes, they do try to sell you drugs everywhere you go- it happened to us quite a bit, but they are not forceful with it. PM me if you wnat more details regarding prices and such. You cant go wrong with a Couples resort- but it is very pricey! Good luck
