Has anyone ever been to an acupuncturist or a hypnotherapist? Would like to see about getting my stomach resolved and wondering if one of these could help since so far everything is good.

What can I do next?

I've been to both. I loved the acupuncturist - she was also a naturopath, and focused on diet as well as mental health. I've had some relief from pain (knees) with the acupuncture, but I'm not sure overall how effective it was. I saw direct results from hypnotherapy after my first visit... we worked on stress/anger, and I felt a noticeable difference right away. (I also was able to finally conceive after about 3 visits, which was my original goal in doing the hypnotherapy)

I would definitely do the hypnotherapy again.

HI K.,

I went to an acupunturist for both allergies and also my ulcerative colitis. It helped a lot but it didn't get rid of what was causing the problem. What exact issue are you having with your stomach? The digestive tract is one of the keys to good health so getting it resolved is very important. I have cured my ulcerative colitis that I suffered with for 40 years because I now know what causes the problem and I have removed it from my life. Most conditions have a stimuli. Let me know if I can help!

Hey K. -

I can't speak for the hypnotherapy but I am a big believer in acupuncture and chiropractic therapies. It is amazing what one tiny little nerve can do to your entire body, or how one small vertebra can be the root cause of severe abdominal pain.

The best thing to do would be to find a very experienced acupuncturist through someone you know or through several recommendations. I would also, as a general rule, stay away from those located in day spas or other luxury facilities as they tend to be over priced and (in my opinion) just there for the "scene" and not for the holistic healing of the body.

One last word to the wise - should you pursue this, you are going to meet strange and "new-age-y" people. Don't freak out. My chiropractor is kind of a nut, but I love her! I just thought I'd mention it because some people go into offices relating it to a physician's office, but they get in there and are like, "Woah this is weird" ...just go in with your guard down and your mind open, and I promise you'll be glad you did. Acupuncture and chiropractic therapies and helped relieve (for me) - back pain, migraines, stomach trouble, severe abdominal pains, labor and delivery, mild arthritis, and most of all, stress!

Angie's List is a great website to find good details and opinions on businesses, doctors and other service providers in your area.

Best of luck!

Have used acupuncture to deal with chronic health issues, and I really notice an improvement. I recently started a new series of treatments, and have had tremendous relief from lung issues, sleep difficulties, and severe charlie horses, plus just feel stronger and more physically resilient.

Just a few treatments should tell you whether you'll get good results. Some practitioners also include the use of herbs for specific complaints.

I've also had very good results from homeopathy. Good luck; I hope you find something that helps.

I haven't been to a hypnotherapist but I did go to an acupuncturist for stomach issues. For me, it didn't work. I went 4 times before I decided it was a waste of my money. While it was relaxing to sit there...my stomach issues continued (turns out it was all stressed induced and eventually resolved itself). But in any case- I have several friends who SWEAR by it. It doesn't hurt to try and I hope it works for you.
