If so, what steps did you go through... What companies did you use to help with your invention? Did you use a company to create the product or did you make it yourself?

Thanks =)

What can I do next?

No I haven't. However, there are a lot of vultures out there who will steal your idea in a heartbeat.

Make sure you have yourself covered with trademarks and patents. You need to work with an attorney experienced in this type of law.

My husband does have a few patents because we are in the plastics industry and it involves coming up with specific formulas in order to make specific products... EX: something FDA approved, specific colors, UVA protected, etc. It is a lot of work but worth it in the end.

I wish you the best!

What different answers are you looking for now? I think you should make your question more specific since so much of this was already covered. It will help responders give you what you are looking for.

I know several teachers who have invented fun, educational games for kids and they have patented the idea and obtained a trademark on the name. They have been successful marketing it to other teachers and to parents who are looking for enrichment activities for their kids. Sometimes they have spread the word at teacher's conferences and others have just set up websites to sell the games. I know one person that contracted with an educational company to advertise her game on their website and I don't know if they stock it and ship it or if they send orders to her for processing. Several years ago I entered the Staples Invention contest and was a finalist. Staples took the top winners and helped the inventors patent their product, manufacturer it and sell it in their stores. They have stopped doing this, so I don't know if it was not successful for them or what. We researched existing patents to determine if it would be in violation of other patents and we were clear. We made a prototype. The invention still has some potential, but we haven't wanted to invest the time and money to find a low cost producer and then to market it. But it is on my bucket list! Good luck with your idea. You might want to watch a few episodes of Shark Tank - people try to market their inventions to a team of Investors (that have successfully launched new products). There are all kinds of things you can learn, especially what questions you might be asked.
