Good morning Ladies,

Who's ready for a laugh??

Okay, so this morning..I start my new school routine which included my step daughter. Last week, she was with her mom so, my morning routines were soley me and my two daughters after my husband left for work. I am very lucky to have a corporate job where I can now work from home 2-3 days per week, something that I am grateful for every day. This allows me to still be the mom that I want to be to my kids AND have the job that I love. The weeks that we have my step daughter, I am home 3 days...M, Th, Fr. Well, since I currently drop off and pick up my daughters from school, my husband and I thought it would be nice if I also drove my step daughter to school in the morning (she goes to a different school than my girls do) and this is something that she really wanted. She recently just started getting dropped off at school in the mornings by her mom instead of having to goto daycare before school. Well, originally, my husband was going to have to drop her off at her mom's house every morning (way out of the way) but with me being able to bring her when she is with us...it works out great for everyone.

So, this morning, things are off to a wonderful start. The girls all eat, brush teeth and hair and get ready for school. Off we go... My dughters get dropped off on time, they start at 730...on to SD's school, she starts at 8... I get there a few min. early. GREAT! We sit, we chat...it was very nice. I drop her off and proceed to leave the school premisis. I get to the driveway, see that the traffic has stopped to the right of me and that there is no one coming to the left (cars, kids or parents). Well, I hit the gas (not flooring it but slowly driving as anyone would from a school driveway) and SLAM right into a.... UM.... portable stop sign. I screamed. I could not believe it. It was in such a bad place...I did not see it at all as it was located in my blind spot (between my view out of the windsheild and my drivers front window...you know, where that strip of interior plastic is that runs from your dash to the ceiling of the car). I of course was not seeing the huge red octagon portion of the sign nor the back of it since I was coming toward it from the side...It was short... How bad could it be, right???? WELL.... it basically was this big old rusty RIM of a car on it's side with a stop sign attached. I felt so dumb that I just backed up, went around it and drove home to check out the damage ((I did not knock over the sign or anything, it barely moved)). When I got home, I was shocked! I screwed up my bumber pretty bad. SIGH! :( I pushed the bumper back into place and popped out the dent... UGH! but ofcourse, I am left with a small dent and lots of scratches as thought I went of roading in a Toyota Corolla. My car is pretty new so this hurts kinda bad.. Anyhow... I decide to call the school district police dept. to see if I need to report this or something and tell them about their sign placement. When I talked to the school...they admitted that I was not the only one who has hit it due to the same reason. Unreal. When I talked to an officer, he told me that he could take a report however (( I love this part )) he could give me a ticket for hitting a FIXED OBJECT! Um...it's not fixed, it is MANUALLY rolled out into the street every single morning. You have got to be kidding me. Oh well. Anyway, we will see if I end up getting a ticket sent to me in the mail or something, I could not believe it.

Just thought I would share a L. Monday morning humor with you all...

Have any of you ever done something like this and felt so stupid for it?

Monday is half over...come on Tuesday! I think I may just drive my husbands truck to work tomorrow....may be a better option. :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Denise...you are SO funny!

Mom of 4... NO WAY! My SD did not see me. That is all I would need is for her to go back and tell her mom that I am BLIND and don't know how to drive. LOL

Not to me, but I am going to tattle on my best friend. I love her, but she can not go in reverse for anything. This girl has so far backed into a dumpster, another car, another car, two trees, and my favorite...her husbands patrol car...TWICE!

LOL LOL LOL!!!
I'm sorry, but the visual you paint is hilarious!

It's usually at times like those, when you feel that all is right with the world, when everything's coming up roses and you think "Wow! I CAN have it ALL!" Then BLAMMO! Something like this jolts you right back into reality, right?

Funny stuff. ("Yes, officer, I will be right there to pick up my citation!")

It was our first day of school and all I could think, looking at the bus pulling away from the stop was that the kids all looked like they were headed to Aushwitz or some other concentration camp. I laugh out loud every time I picture their faces! Reality, indeed!

That's funny. I've got one I'm pretty embarassed about. I had a car with a remote start. It was a manual transmission. I had to put it in 1st gear and put emergency brake on it to keep it from rolling downhill. So, I'm in an upstairs apartment with my toddler and he was playing with my keys. As soon as I saw him, I took them away. I go downstairs later that day - hours later - and see that my car had jumper the curb and was resting, at an angle, inches away from the fire hydrant. Apparently he had hit the automatic start and the car turned on, in 1st gear, and jumped the curb. It had been in the precarious, ridiculous spot for hours! All my neighbors must've thought I came in drunk or something. oopsie. Not a good look for a mom of a toddler.

Here's the story of yet another woman going from perfect to disaster in her own way, in the same day: my sister. Picture this pretty, svelte, young lady, light brown wavy hair, so pretty in her work clothes (blouse with jacket, matching pants, a pashmina scarf beautifully wrapped around her neck) she's downtown, crossing the street, feeling all eyes on her (not unusual)...all of a sudden she feels something in between her calves, something was in the way of her elegant, long steps...a pantyhose!!!!! YES, she forgot to take them out of the pants she was wearing the day before (bad habit of pulling them down TOGETHER!) and, BAM, she went from perfect to disasterously funny in 5 seconds!! She actually had to stop and pull the pantyhose out of her pants (from the bottom) in the street, with the people chuckling...do you feel a L. better? tell the truth...;-P

When I was 16 I had just gotten. I was very involved in my churches youth group at the time. I had also go to school there from kinder to 8th grade. I was driving between the church and the parish hall and found the drive way blocked. I put the car in reverse and SLAM, right into a 100 plus year old Pecan tree that I had walked by everyday for 9 years while attending school there. I just did not see that huge stinking tree behind me. I was left with tree bark embedded in the rear bumber. My parent's actually thought it was pretty funny tho so at least I didn't get trouble. We still laugh about it now.

I can see the humor in it, in front of the whole school. so glad the SD didnt see. And I have done nearly the same thing, but could have been so much worse. I was leaving the mall and making a left turn at the light. That same strip between side window and windshield blocked the corner across from me and to the left. The light turned green, which also triggers the pedestrian signal to cross and as I turned to the left, the gal must have stepped off the curb, walked out, and stayed in my blind spot till I was nearly into crosswalk all the way across the intersection. All of a sudden theres a person in front of me! Im so glad she was watching my car since I couldnt see her at all until it was nearly too late. My heart just about stopped! She smiled and nodded at me and in shock with my hand on my cheeks (home alone look), and saying Im sorry I let her go,, but boy was I shaken up for days. I still make sure I move my head and check around that stupid blind spot in my car to make sure I never have that happen again. You never know, it might have been kids crossing the street you could have hit. Oh man, can you imagine how you would feel. So, lets all be more careful, now that school has started especially. Whew, we both dodged a bullet.

Unfortunately, I had a similar thing happen and NO I don't feel stupid. I was pulling out of a car lot. They have low rail guards all around the lot. Someone had left the rod that goes across the drive sticking out about a foot and a half. Since I was turning into the drive with a parked car on my right side and the rod was so low, I could not see it. It cut through my bumper and pushed the underpinning against my tire. Thank goodness, I could not drive it, because it had also cut into the power steering mechanisms. I would have had my steering go out on the freeway. It cost over $2k for repairs and I was only going about 1 mph!
I took it in recently to have my brakes repaired, and the mechanic found even more damage that needs to be repaired!

When I was pregnant with my daughter I backed into a telephone pole...bam...didn't touch the brakes or anything! lol It knocked the "t" off the back making my "truck" a "ruck". lol The bad thing is I was backing out of our driveway and I KNEW the pole was there!! I blame pregnancy. lol!!! I also busted out a window of my husband's work van when my daughter was a newborn. This time I was pulling INTO my driveway! lol I didn't turn wide enough and hit our mailbox.......I have not hit anything since then...thank God. lol

Last year I was taking my youngest to violin. There is the really strange right turn yield. So the lady in front of me took off fast enough that I thought she was going but then stopped ten feet further. I went and of course hit her since at that point I figured she was gone. From the passenger seat, my son, that is just how dad hit Genna's teacher. :p

Just made me laugh to think if your step daughter saw it.
