Have You Vacationed in the Outer Banks?

My family vacations at OBX every summer and we love it there. The last several years we've stayed at Nags Head. I come from a larger family so we always rent a house right on the beach. There is nothing like waking up to the sound of the ocean and having a cup of coffee while watching the sun rise on the ocean. There are many options with regards to locations, so you'll have to first decide what part of OBX you want to stay at, then the type of lodging. There are both hotels and house/condo rentals available. It is nice to have a kitchen so that you can go to the local grocery store and stock up (saves money). Good Luck! You'll have a blast:)

We were just there last summer. We stayed in a rental in Nags Head. It was very nice. I suggest a rental because it is similar to home. There are rooms where everyone can split up to have a break from one another. Having a kitchen is also wonderful. This really helps with the expense of vacationing as well. I would also recommend purchasing a guidebook or doing some research on line or through AAA. I find that having some options for things to do is always helpful when traveling with my family. There are many different areas that offer something different depending on what you are looking for. Good Luck!

I have not vacationed there, but I am a travel agent and have rented houses for clients. That is the most economical if you have a family.

We have gone to The Outer Banks for many years. Hatteras Realty has a great website, wonderful customer service, outstanding properties. It is the perfect family vacation. We have four children and couldn't do a hotel, so a house with it's own pool a big kitchen and many bedrooms is perfect for us. The off season in early to mid May is extremely affordable and the weather is nice already.
