My 6 month old has a HUGE bug bite on his sweet little face. It has been on his cheek for 3 days now, and does not appear to be changing or going away. I can feel a bump when I rub my finger across it. What can I do????? It doesnt seem to bother him at all, but I am a wreck, and I cant take it anymore. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We always used and still do Prid. It comes in an orange small tin container. It looks like tar but draws out the poison etc. Works wonderfully! Ask the pharmacist if you cant find it but it is over the counter somewhere and lasts forever and ever!

My son is very allergic to mosquito bites and I was able to get a prescription for a strong version of "Cortaid" which helps. If your pediatrician won't give you a prescription, I would say just apply regular Cortaid sparingly since it's on the face.

Hopefully it's already getting better. I would put a little hydrocortisone 1% creme on the bug bite as long as it's not located by his eyes or mouth. I would also avoid touching on it. It will eventually go away and try to take a deep breath and just enjoy cuddling him.

Very similar to what happened when my son was 10mo. It ended up being a spider bite that got infected. It was huge before I took him to the pediatrician. He needed an antibiotic. I would take him in to see the dr. You never know what kind of bug it is either.
Good Luck.

My son and I are both very sesitive to bug bites and often swell as you metioned. I have found that giving my son an age appropriate dose of an antihistimine works great. It aleveates the itching as well as the swelling associated with the allergic sensitivity. You may want to consult your dr on the right amount for your childs weight.

Are you sure it's a bug bite? It may be an infected pore or a clogged pore. Just a thought. God Bless.

You might try Hydrocortisone Cream, you can get it in half the percentage (it think it's .5%) it's not as strong as the adult cream. You might want to check with your baby's doctor to make sure it is okay to use on a 6 month old. I've used it on my daughter when she was one and it was okay.
Hope this helps!
