Hello Moms,
My fiance's bday is quickly approaching and I am trying to plan a romantic getaway for 2.Well I decided against a ski trip since it was way outta my budget but I thought about booking a nice suite at the Magnolia in Downtown Dallas and then have a nice night out on the town. What do you ladies think? Too cheesy for a man's bday? Any suggestions on things I can add to with hotel idea to make it more interesting and exciting. He did the same exact thing for me last Valentines but at the Reunion Tower so I dont wanna copy him but I am on a tight budget and want a get away weekend bc he needs it. Help any suggestions?

What can I do next?

You can plan a trip to san antonio or austin that is really cheap. You can take a train ride to either of those places well they also have other destination that you can take. They also have packages that include a sleeper on the train, dinner or you can just stay at a hotel of your choice with in the town you choose. I think the website is www.amtrek.com or http://www.amtrakvacations.com/. I always thought it would be something nice an different for a getaway that is inexpensive.
Well have fun!

Does he like to golf? If so, check out the packages at Doral Tesoro (near Westlake). The hotel is great and they have a golf course on the property. The prices are reasonable and some of the packages even include dinner and breakfast. Here's their website: http://doraltesoro.com/

The Gaylord in grapevine is fun too, and different. Plus, there's lots to do close by. Golf, the lake, Grapevine Mills, Bass Pro, etc.

Have fun!

I think the Gaylord would be a good idea. I think they are still offering a dessert sunset cruise on the lake, you can go to the Steakhouse (what guy doesn't like a good steak dinner?) and they also have the new nightclub The Glass Cactus. If the price of the hotel is too much on the budget than stay at one of the other hotels around the Gaylord that are cheaper but drive over there for the fun.

If he likes sports get some tickets to the Stars or Mavs and take him to a game. There are also lots of hotels around the arena that are probably reasonably priced.

Well, without knowing his likes & dislikes it's hard to say but usually just the hotel thing itself works! ;-)

But, if he likes the outdoors at all I would suggest maybe renting a cabin at a lake. There are some awesome ones in E. Texas and Okla. that are not too expensive and have hot tubs, etc.. Pretty and excluded,,,,,

Good luck and have lots of fun!

Guys are guys and they like similar things.
If it were your anniversary or Valentine'S day I would say go for it on the romantic getaway weekend but it is HIS birthday.
You should try and and plan something he would like.
Fishing, Golfing, Biking, Drinking (at a bar with him and his friends)...I think guys like it a lot when we include their passions and really try to embrace them.Good luck and have fun!!

Ever seen the joke that says "show up naked / bring beer" LOL... I'd say.... a romantic place to you would be fine for him... I don't know any guy that'd be that picky if they were going to have a nice evening alone with their lady. :)
