There is a small, custom upholstery/repair shop in Mountain View that I've used. (www.sterlingcustomupholstery.com) They did a good job for us.

Hi there... wanted to say that re-upholstery is usually very costly (used to work in ID/Architecture).

If it's just a micro-suede/fiber that's damaged or torn (usually you can get stains right out and that's the beauty of this material) than I'd say just get a new one :-)

You might want to check out Overstock.com - they usually have a lot of ottoman options like micro-suede for very good prices + under $3 for furniture delivery (unheard of in the furniture industry!).

I've purchased many things along these lines on Overstock and also recently got a micro-suede ottoman at a low-cost (but fairly well made stuff for the price) in Sunnyvale for $75. Also, Bed, Bath & Beyond sometimes has very low prices microsuede/storage ottomans.

Good luck!

(I used to resale custom furniture for a interiors firm in SF, and most upholsters are extremely expensive + you then pay for the fabric which they usually mark-up before they resell it to you),

This may be more work than you were looking for, but i know that often you can find adult education programs (the kind that offer things like cake decorating) that do a one or two night re-upholtery class. You pay for the class and bring your own fabric and furniture and the teacher walks you through the process and has the tools. My mom did this and saved a lot of money.
