Hip Displacement?

Since I gave birth to my daughter last July I have been having problems with my hips. If I sit in a cross-legged position or anything similar, my hip joint seems to pull out of the socket a bit which causes me alot of pain...especially when I have to try and pop it back in and ocassionally it gives out while I am walking. Obviously I try not to sit in those positions, but it can't always be helped. I've never had issues with my hips before and I've done yoga for years. Have any other moms gone through this and does it go away eventually? Any advice would be great...

What can I do next?

I was a dancer when I was younger and have had a lot of problems from this with my joints, hips and back. The best advise I can give is to see a chiropractor. They are a god send and trust me if you go and get it popped back where it belogs it will make a world of differance. Good luck!!

Hi K.,
I've had hip issues since my oldest was around 2...he's 8 now! My problem is sciatica..... a pinched nerve that causes pain that travels from my hip to my ankle... very painful. It comes and goes, I've learned how to avoid it and how to deal when it happens (bed resting and limited movement)

What your going through sounds different though, if you think your hip is coming out of the socket I would HIGHLY suggest going to see a D.O. or a highly qualified chiropractor. What your going through can be fixed and/or helped and I would NOT WAIT, you're only 27..... get it taken care of now and you can be sure of avoiding years of pain in the future.

You could have arthritis or some degenerative issue that could be stopped now if you see someone who knows more. There are also many herbal preparations you can take to strenghen your body, ligaments, and joints. That's my advice for you, Go see someone or AT LEAST call your doc. God bless I will pray for you.

I had the same exact issue. If i got out of the car the wrong way, i was in pain, if i moved a certain way, the same thing. then if i propped up my legs then moved them i would get it again. it went away for the most part after 6-8 months, although every now and then i get a slight pain or stiffness in my hips and my daughter is 2 1/2... but it's managable. i've never been real big on doctors so i never had it checked, but i was tempted cuz it lasted so long. it did go away for the most part though. hope you have the same results of it just fading. :o)

Hi K.,

I am a Chiropractor, in Scottsdale, with a focus on treating the biomechanical (bone/joint,muscle,nerve) issues of prenatal and postpartum women. I have also just given birth to my daughter, 6 weeks ago, so I now have first hand experience with what we go through to bring our children into the world. I would suggest getting evaluated by a Chiropractor. I have helped countless women with problems similar to yours. I can't say for sure, with out a physical exam and more information, but it would be worth checking into. Whatever you decide, I suggest getting some sort of treatment (Chiro,PT or see an orthopedist) as these things tend to get worse not better, when left alone.
