I don't know a holistic pediatrician, however, i know a holistic midwife that can probably give you a referral. Bernadette Olivier owns Rite of Passage in Pearland. If you call her office, they might be able to give the referral you are looking for. :)

Dear C.,

I was just about to write an almost identical request myself. We, too, are vaccinating selectively and I've been using a ped. who is only partially 'tolerant' of this practice and I am getting tired of her critical look every time we go in for a checkup. She's even warned me that her practice might not be accepting non-vaccinated kids for much longer.

I do know a name: Dr. Nellie Grouse (or is it Grose?). She was recommended to me by a friend because she does accept selective vaccination or alternate vaccination schedules. However, for me the problem is that my health insurance does not cover her type of practice (holistic/alternative). If you find anyone, please let me know!

And for everyone who is thinking about vaccinating or not vaccinating (since it appears those people are being addressed generally in the responses you got so far), make sure you are well educated about the matter! The choices are very complex and difficult to make.

Good luck,
G.

My husband and I are also taking the selective approach on vaccinating our son. It is hard to find peditricians who agree with this. Our peditrician does not but she doesn't pressure us in the decisions we make. You could try looking in your area for a peditrician that is a D.O. instead of an M.D. These are doctors of osteopathy. They are usually more prone to more natural means of healing and disease prevention. The only problem is that D.O.'s seem harder to come by in my area. Maybe not for you since you are in the Houston area. Good luck!

We have been happy with Dr. Seymour Goldberg, who is near the Med Center. He is a traditional pediatrician, but he has not pressured me at all about my selective vaccination of my 2 year old. We've only been with his practice since August, when we moved here, but when I explained that my son had been sick as an infant and that I was only gradually vaccinating, he was fine with it. I would not describe him as "well educated on the benefits of this delayed schedule" and he does not promote a delayed schedule. His staff is also always a little mystified by my reluctance to "catch up" on the schedule, but again, no pressure and certainly no threats of kicking me out of the practice.

Hope that helps.
