R.J.
the little time I have alone in the summer I would float in the pool without someone trying to tip me or splash me. Other times it depends on what I have to get done or sometimes just sit in the quiet because I know it wont last long.
Every Tuesday from 12-3 I'm home by myself. That's the only time all the kids are in school. On the other days the kids and I play or if they are playing together I play on here.. until we drop my son off at school at noon. after he is in school is when I clean the house ( least amount of distractions). my daughter will either lay down and watch tv or fall asleep for a few hours. Other times she helps me.
For the past month I have been getting my work done before dropping the kids off on Tuesdays. After they are in school I veg out on the computer or in front of the tv.. more times than not I take a nap.
Just wondering if you have time to yourself with nobody else around how do you spend it? Doing what should be done ( there is always something else that could be done!) or enjoy the peace and quiet and spend it doing what you want to do.
My nap was wonderful! Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my "weekend". I like my nap on Tuesdays to catch up on sleep after my crazy weekends.
got up and picked up the kids we went for a walk, they are playing and now the other 3 are getting home. Its such a nice boost to deal with the rest of the day and re energize for the rest of the week.
Glad to see Im not alone on the napping ;)

I really like to use that time to get things done. I'm so much more productive alone. I also like to clean out my dvr and watch all the girly stuff nobody else wants to watch. Nothing wrong with a good nap either. That's always on my list of favorite hobbies.
Very easy to answer this R., I sleep anytime I get the chance.
Us Mamas are "doing something" 24/7 so we all earned a relax when we can.
Enjoy and please don't spend anytime cleaning etc during this precious time just for you.

Read or cross stitch. Rare pleasures these days. Chores never go away so I enjoy the time entertaining myself.
Nap - it can be SUCH a great pick-me-up!
Read a book
Bubble bath
Weed the garden
Bake a batch of cookies
Maybe get some cleaning or laundry out of the way.
Run on the treadmill, take a shower and then read. I don't have many of these days, but when I do... so nice!
I would nap, or do some sort of crafty activity, unless I needed to do laundry or something. But definitely, napping is a priority!
I really *try* to do productive things when I have the house to myself.
I can tell you this, even now, with my only in 3rd grade--it's a giddy feeling! LOL
Honestly, I'd sleep.
Oh my gosh, home alone??? That sounds amazing LOL!!! I have 3 kiddos (and one is a 3 year old) and run a preschool from home in the morning... and my husband works until about 5-6 so I am rarely home alone. In fact I can't remember the last time I was, even for 5 mintues. BUT if I was home alone, I would probably give myself a mini facial, do laundry, clean up, waste time on the internet... oh and maybe watch a show that isn't aired on PBS or Disney LOL
work out...then nap!
that's totally what id do.
I can seriously count on one hand how many times I have been alone in our house...I used the time to clean! It amazed me at how much I could get done when nobody else was home.
Homework, Homework, Homework... and a workout if I have time
I have a lot of free time during the day and I do whatever I want. Mostly catching up on my taped shows, on the laptop or if its raining and cold out, I read in bed and take a nap. If mama ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy! =)
A lot of times, I have to finish my work (part time job), but then the day is free unless I'm volunteering at the school.
This morning, I went to our Community Park and walked around it for an hour or so. It was beautiful - 60 degrees and sunny. The leaves are changing color and there was plenty of birds to look at.
I came home and cleaned, played on the computer and am just putzing around. I have to go get my work in a few and then I have to bake a cake (Husband's birthday tomorrow). Then the kids will start coming home and it will be homework and making dinner.
I also like to run errands and shop or go out to lunch every once in awhile. When the weather gets colder, I'll go to the gym to work out.
I ♥ the peace and quiet.
Totally nap or watch TV...when everyone else is home (2 boys and DH), I never get to chose the show :-)! It is always something superhero or macho...lol! Enjoy my ANTM or Project: Runway or Food Network...lol!
I don't get alot of time to myself yet - mine are still 2.5 and 4.5, my time to myself is my cardio class I go to while DD is in Preschool at the YMCA and DS goes to the babysitting room there - so I am not free to do whatever - but I do get a 45 minute exercise class, deperately needed with other adults only, and I get a long uninterrupted shower there at the Y - that alone has improved my stamina/attiitude for the rest of the day - we do this routine form 8:30-11am on M, W, F. Once she is in kindergarten and he is in Preschool, then MAYBE I will get a little time alone, and I will be sure to do some of whatever I want and some of what has to be done. If I feel like a nap, I WILL sleep, otherwise, maybe some craft stuff, some cleaning, some cooking!
More power to you!
This wonderful thing called "home alone with no kids" has finally happened to me...I get two mornings a week all to myself now!:)
What I've been doing is a little cleaning, organizing, going through my kids closets and getting rid of things, laundry, doing dishes, etc. I try to give myself a little time out of the morning, like at least 30 mins, where I just sit, read the paper or a magazine, maybe watch a little TV, or just sit in silence. After nearly 10 years of constant kids crying, whining, and chitter chatter, I LOVE this 2 hours twice a week!!!
My mom, a very smart lady who had to stay home with 3 kids in between careers, gave me this excellent advice.
Every day, do the stuff you need to do (sweep, wipe, wash, etc.) but ALWAYS do a little something that will count towards a larger goal.
There's always cleaning, so if you don't get it all done, so what?
But set a larger goal--such as finishing a class, studying for that small business you want to start someday, practicing watercolors or dance, jogging in the 'hood to lose that last 10 pounds, learning French for that trip to Paris, whatever. Chip away at it little by little every day. Time passes no matter what you do, so if you do a little something daily...you'll get there!
