Homegrown Tomatoes

I am ravenous for some home grown, vine ripened tomatoes. Most gardeners that have a good crop seem to have more than they can use. I am looking for that person! I have been two summers without a good tomato, much less a BLT. The ones I bought at the market last year were nasty.
I live in East Richardson and will pay any reasonable amount!

So What Happened?

Several responses so far! One has a garden. 2 offered alternative suggestions! I love this site!

Well--after the salmomela scare I am even more eager to buy homegrown tomatoes from someone in this area.

I don't have any tomatoes, but I saw the coolest gadget at Target the other day and you might want to look into for your tomato fix. It's called the AeroGrow AeroGarden. It's an indoor hydroponic garden where you can grow herbs or tomato plants. I want one - I'm always needing fresh herbs but I hate buying them at the store! You can also find the gardens on Amazon.com for about $115 dollars (I can't remember how much it was at Target).

D.,
Try the Dallas Farmers' Market. I've gotten some great tomatoes in Shed 2 from a grower I think is called Sandra's Ugly Tomatoes.

I too learned the hard way. When I can't have tomatoes from my neighbor I buy "Campari" tomatoes from Tom Thumb or Albertsons. They are smaller than the "Vine Ripened" ones and bigger than cherry tomatoes. They really do taste like tomatoes.

I have plants growing now with some nice tomatoes started. I just hope we get them before little squirrels and birds do!! We are already getting grape tomatoes.

My hubby is on the road often and he will stop at roadside set ups in east TX and bring them home....Yummy. Other than that, I have been to Fairview Farms and Georgia's in Plano and bought good tomatoes.

Nothing like a home grown tomato!!
